Recognizing that every individual and family requires a unique path to healing, I utilize an integrative approach that adapts to each client's developmental needs. This includes Play Therapy for children which provides a creative space for children to communicate and heal, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for symptom management, and psychodynamic exploration to address deep-seated challenges. My trauma-informed practice incorporates EMDR to facilitate lasting recovery, as well as Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for clients who have found limited results through traditional talk therapy alone.

I believe that relationships shape who we are and impact our behavior. When these relationships become challenging many areas of our lives are affected including school, home, work and individual wellbeing. I strive to create a safe therapeutic space where we can authentically explore those avenues and roadblocks so that each person can have a new experience of themselves and those around them. I specialize in working with adolescents, couples, and individuals struggling with eating disorders.

Maybe it’s anxiety that won’t settle, depression that makes even simple things feel heavy, or trauma that lingers in your body, thoughts, or relationships.
In couples therapy, I use evidence-based approaches such as Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, the Gottman Method, and attachment-focused work to enhance emotional safety, strengthen communication, repair trust, and deepen connection. For individuals, I draw from CBT, DBT, narrative, psychodynamic, and somatic-informed therapy.

Though I have a general practice and treat a wide range of mental health difficulties, I have special interest in helping those with anxiety who do not want their lives limited by the attention-grabbing and life-limiting consequences of anxiety.
Learn how to develop more happiness; reduce life's suffering; overcome unhelpful thinking patterns, beliefs, and behaviors; and create more vitality and meaning for your life. I find that the clients that work well with me want more than a sterile, clinical experience. They want professionalism with warmth and humor as part of their therapy. They are also those willing to work and do what's necessary to experience the changes they desire. Of course, they expect that of me as well, and are willing and ready to set goals to improve their experiences in life.

Sometimes life can be a lot. Sometimes our mind powers through and we are none the worse for wear. Other times, the brain gets stuck on sad or scared or angry. We want to let go and move on, but the restless nights and tiring days seem to last forever. All too often, the problems seep into relationships with the ones you love the most. During these moments of life, counseling can be the lifeline you can use to pull yourself free – to get unstuck. Unstuck means you feel in control of your emotions, your body, and your thoughts. Unstuck means you feel confident and safe in your relationships.

Anxiety Therapists
When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
