I understand how important it is for a client to be able to feel safe and confident when talking to someone about their deepest feelings. I feel honored that I am trusted with that confidence and my clients find that within the first few minutes of session they can relax and know they won't be judged and that I'm there to help. We work together to promote change and its easier to do when you're not alone in the process.

I have a certification as an Anger Treatment Professional.
Learn how to develop more happiness; reduce life's suffering; overcome unhelpful thinking patterns, beliefs, and behaviors; and create more vitality and meaning for your life. I find that the clients that work well with me want more than a sterile, clinical experience. They want professionalism with warmth and humor as part of their therapy. They are also those willing to work and do what's necessary to experience the changes they desire. Of course, they expect that of me as well, and are willing and ready to set goals to improve their experiences in life.

My ideal client is one who has dealt with anxiety and/or depression throughout life. The clients who have tried therapy periodically but struggle to maintain a stable mood. Clients who are uncomfortable in most environments and seem to always be on edge. These clients often face social, professional, and family struggles because they are reactive, defensive, and sometimes impulsive in both language and actions. People who struggle to be able to motivate themselves into action. These qualities can lead to feeling misunderstood and alienated. I have successfully treated clients that fit this profile.

Often, relationship issues arise when effective communication is limited or communication styles are mismatched. Having the tools/skills to successfully express what you want/need and how you feel offers the freedom to pursue life's positive opportunities. I can help you address communication obstacles, and with you, explore the possible sources of conflict causing them. As an art therapist, I offer a client-centered approach in multiple modalities: art, play, expressive, and traditional talk therapy. In my experience, the flexibility to create a customized, comfortable, challenging therapeutic environment allows for successful counseling outcomes with individuals, couples, families, and teens.

Sometimes life can be a lot. Sometimes our mind powers through and we are none the worse for wear. Other times, the brain gets stuck on sad or scared or angry. We want to let go and move on, but the restless nights and tiring days seem to last forever. All too often, the problems seep into relationships with the ones you love the most. During these moments of life, counseling can be the lifeline you can use to pull yourself free – to get unstuck. Unstuck means you feel in control of your emotions, your body, and your thoughts. Unstuck means you feel confident and safe in your relationships.

As someone with immigrant parents, I understand how challenging it can be to build relationships and grow a family while navigating multiple cultures and expectations. Balancing cultural values with your own identity can feel confusing, lonely, or overwhelming at times.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
