Hello! Perhaps you are searching Psychology Today for a loved one or for yourself, or simply to acquaint yourself with counseling. I commend for exploring your options. I have over nine years of experience providing therapy for a variety of issues. When clients begin therapy, many of them are searching for a space to fully express themselves and to process their struggles. Many are looking for a safe person to confide in without feeling judged. My hope is that you find that here and begin to identify ways to move forward.

There are moments where each of us experience difficult and stressful points in our lives. Whether it's a painful divorce, the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job, going through stress in a relationship, unresolved self-esteem issues, questions about gender or sexuality, dealing with a troubled child, family stress, or facing pain from childhood and/or adult trauma. Life can be hard at times; there is no doubt about that. I have come to view those challenging times that we all experience, albeit in different ways, as opportunities for us to make positive changes and adjustments - what I like to call "reset moments."

I have over 10 years of experience helping adolescents and adults in crisis and trauma.
Somewhere along the way, you learned how to be “fine.” Not because you were okay—but because your nervous system learned how to function. To the world, you are: Loving. The one who shows up. The one who holds it together. High-functioning. Productive. And privately? A nervous system stuck on alert—a low hum that never quite shuts off. Shame that lives more in the body than in words. Deep exhaustion from staying regulated for everyone else. Numb at times. Other times caught in cycles of anxiety or collapse, wondering how someone so capable could feel so disconnected inside.

Life is challenging and at times can be overwhelming. The need to have two Income families, shuttling kids to school then to activities such as sporting events, dance practice and band practice is very daunting to say the least. Sometimes people turn to substance abuse, and other unhealthy behaviors which then become a problem rather then a solution. This affects all family members. The real solution lies within each of us. My work is to help you ferret out that solution. Unhealed traumas and complex emotions needing to be untangled ware us down. Help is available. call or email me.

I specialize in anxiety therapy, life transitions, and building self-worth for teens, young adults, and adults.
My ideal client is someone who has tried to hold it all together—on the outside they seem fine, but inside they feel stuck, anxious, and overwhelmed. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, or people-pleasing that keeps them questioning their worth. They want therapy that helps them feel calmer, more confident, and able to break free from self-doubt. They long for relief, self-trust, and the ability to truly enjoy life again—without carrying the constant weight of worry.

If you understand your history but still feel triggered, numb, or stuck in the same relationship patterns, trauma may still be living in your nervous system. I work with adults and couples impacted by complex trauma, developmental wounds, and attachment injuries. Many of my clients are highly capable in their lives yet privately struggle with anxiety, emotional numbness, or relationship triggers despite insight into their past. Trauma lives in the nervous system, not just in memory. My work focuses on helping the body gradually release these patterns so emotions, relationships, and daily life can feel more settled and connected.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
