Many of my clients come to therapy feeling exhausted from repeating the same relationship patterns, struggling to feel seen, supported, or emotionally safe. Some are navigating childhood trauma, attachment wounds, or the lingering effects of generational patterns that show up in their partnerships, parenting, or self-worth. Others are simply overwhelmed — trying to hold everything together while silently carrying anxiety, grief, or emotional burnout. They want clarity, stability, and deeper connection — not just coping tools, but real, lasting change. My approach is holistic, systemic, and trauma-informed.

Your story is unique, your experiences unlike ANY other. The process is to find you as you are, and to journey together to where you want to be. My years of work with traumatized and grief-stricken clients and families have brought the conclusion that anxiety, depression, and interpersonal relationships are the barriers to a healthy self, to a meaningful and purposeful life. Determining the causes and our role in these barriers (overwhelming and unduly burdensome at times) will begin to get us unstuck. Circumstances likely have driven you to the point of therapy, but a great opportunity to regain control and find the healthy you.

While well versed and experience in traditional interventions and therapeutic styles, such as CBT and DBT, my approach to therapy is collaborative and holistic. I include mythology, spirituality and other non-traditional interventions in treatment planning, particularly working to include a client’s cultural background into their care. My guiding principle both in regards to personal wellness and in effective therapy is authenticity. This is true in how I presents myself to clients and in encouraging others to embrace their most genuine selves.

I work with adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or alone. I believe we have all been wounded in some fashion, and those wounds often affect how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us. Some are exhausted from carrying life's burdens by themselves, while others feel trapped in unhealthy patterns that continue to impact their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Together, we identify obstacles to growth, develop practical coping skills / disciplines, improve communication, and build a path toward greater emotional health, resilience, and personal well-being.

Special interests include grief & loss, religious trauma, meaning and purpose, men's issues, working with BIPOC folk, issues concerning race, and issues surrounding relationships with the self.
Be very careful of the narratives that shape your identity, as they can ultimately define your reality. Narratives have a powerful influence on how we interpret our experiences and guide our actions. Unfortunately, an unhelpful narrative can limit our choices, obscure alternative options, and impede personal growth, leading to a sense of insurmountable problems. Therefore, it is crucial to examine the stories we tell ourselves and reshape them to live a more liberated and meaningful life.

I work with adults and adolescents who feel stuck in patterns of anxiety and depression, or who are adapting to life challenges. You may feel that you're missing the immediacy and vitality of your life because your energy is sinking into habits of overthinking, arguing with yourself, and struggling with your emotions. You think there might be an easier way, but you're not sure how to begin un-learning years of self-blame and criticism. My focus is to provide quality, results oriented counseling services to individuals, families and couples.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
