Healing the whole person — mind, body, and soul, guided by faith. I’m a Catholic-Christian therapist who offers faith-integrated, holistic counseling for individuals and couples seeking emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. My approach combines evidence-based therapy with the wisdom of Christian tradition, helping clients find healing that honors the mind, body, and soul. I believe we’re created as whole persons — body and spirit — and that lasting growth involves nurturing both.

After 7 years as a teacher and school counselor, I now serve as a Licensed Professional Counselor. My background is founded on a passion for working with teens, guiding them as they navigate the tumultuous period of adolescence. I offer a safe, non-judgmental place to support personal growth. Older adolescents are offered more privileges in privacy; however, I ensure that parents remain frequently updated and well-informed. Play therapy is also my passion—a research-based modality for working with younger children.

Waking up to a new day, but it's like déjà vu all over again. The daily grind feels more like an endless loop of the same old routine, and despite the wins, something's missing. It's like living in Groundhog Day, minus the comedy. Behind the scenes, there's a tug of war happening. Success? Check. Anxiety? Triple check. It's a weird mix of "I'm doing okay" and "What am I doing with my life?" that's hard to ignore. Want to find meaning in the midst of the chaos? Learn to stop avoiding the "boogie monster", stop people pleasing, gain perspective, and set boundaries for yourself. Get in the driver's seat again. I see and hear you!

You may be feeling weighed down by anxiety, anger, grief, or a lack of confidence. Life transitions—whether loss, divorce, separation, foster care, or even new beginnings—can leave children, teens, and adults struggling to adjust. Parents often feel lost in navigating school systems, while some adults may be searching for ways to manage stress, strengthen relationships, or find balance in daily life. Deep down, you want clarity, support, and the chance to feel steady and confident again.

Women experience many unique stressors. We face outside pressures from society, family, and friends about how we should act, look, or feel. Are you are in a crisis situation, going through a separation/divorce, struggling with the demands of school, peer pressure, parenting and/or step parenting? Do you feel like you don't have the strength to handle it all or that you have lost yourself in the process.

You or your child's anxiety and neurodiversity are getting the best of you. Other people don't seem to understand or "get" it. You may have sensory sensitivities, rejection vulnerability, or challenges with executive function. And then if you also have experienced things like trauma or have depression or anxiety, it can feel very overwhelming. I get it, as an AuDHDer (Autism and ADHD) myself, I've dealt with this before, and I'm here to help. I’m Amy, and I’m a counselor in Buda, TX, specializing in kids, teens, and adults with histories of trauma, anxiety, and neurodiversity/ADHD.

You may feel overwhelmed, stuck in overthinking, or unsure how to trust yourself. Maybe ADHD, emotional intensity, executive-function struggles, or family stress are part of the picture. Parents often reach out when their child has big feelings, anxiety, or difficulty adjusting to changes like divorce or loss. Clients want life to feel more manageable, relationships easier to navigate, and to feel calmer, more confident, and more like themselves.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
