Male Therapists in Bryan, TX
My focus in therapy is to help individuals and couples increase their level of self-acceptance and their ability to engage and connect in love, sex, and intimacy. I believe that life is messy and that everyone's situation is a product of their environment, experiences, knowledge, and previous decisions. I gravitate to Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy with a touch of Solution Focused based therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

It takes a lot of courage to decide to look for help. It shouldn’t have to feel even riskier finding a therapist who you are comfortable with. I want you to feel like we are a good fit because therapy is like a long hike; sometimes there are steep inclines, sometimes there are beautiful views, but you definitely don’t want to hike with someone you’re not meshing with. Because this is so important, I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation, where you can come, meet me and get an idea of how I would approach working with you to find a way through what you are struggling with.

Lamb Behavioral Health Center provides therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. We treat individuals with mild to severe psychological disorders. We also foster prevention through education.
One of the unique aspects of therapy at LBHC is the emphasis on the family. Working with and improving these vital relationships provides the best outcomes for our patients. As such, we require parent/guardian participation for all patients under the age of 18; however, the level of parent involvement does vary based on patient need. It is also common for adult patients to work on family issues as part of their treatment.

My LPC-A has availability for new clients.
No one enjoys feeling trapped, incapable of escape, and unable to see the light at the end of the tunnel. This is all the more true when the bonds of our entrapment are made up of our mind, our relationships, and our circumstances. While there is a limit to what each person has control over in their lives, many have control over far less than what they are capable of. My goal is to help you increase your power over yourself, closing the gap between where you are and where you could be.

I've been a licensed therapist since 2011. As time goes by I become more confident in being able to describe the type of person who might benefit from working with me. The "ideal" client. This person has likely made multiple earnest efforts at the difficult aspects of life: relationships, careers, meaning of life, struggles with mental health and substances. And an overall bewildering curiosity that comes with understanding this life. A life (consciuosness) granted to us, without us even requesting it. I feel the clients I 'click' the fastest with have an honest humblenesss about them. Our work begins in this humble space.

Currently Accepting New Clients. I am an interpersonal process/person-centered therapist. I believe that many clients experience mental health concerns that are interpersonal in nature. This could include relationships with spouse/partner, family, siblings, co-workers, employers, God and/or SELF. Within relationships we experience our emotions and our therapeutic relationship becomes a tool for addressing these concerns. I tend to be a direct therapist and share my feelings, thoughts and reactions. I use a lot of metaphor and narrative in therapy and expect clients to come prepared to talk about things in therapy.

Specializing in Psychological Evaluations and therapy, I have spent the past 10 years refining this skill. We are complicated and no two people are exactly alike. Having the wrong diagnosis can lead to ineffective treatment and learned helplessness. My evaluations involve an in-depth interview, testing, and a write up with tailored recommendations. The general feedback I get is that I am laid back, safe to be around, and do not take myself too seriously. The evaluation process is a bit of a journey, and like most, you may receive insights throughout our testing time. Join me in our effort to figure this out together.

You have been feeling not good enough, not capable, and unworthy for so long that you believe that is who you are. You feel so unloved, unheard, and out-of-control or unsafe that you have no hope for change. These feelings cause you to react in ways that creates conflict, or you withdraw to avoid these feelings all together. Guilt and shame are often present, sometimes leading to depression. Worry and anxiety are a part of your daily thought life. You want to be free from these feelings, but you can't imagine ever feeling any different than you do right now.

Relationships are often the most difficult part of our lives. While they may provide companionship and comfort, they can also be a source of conflict and pain. Regardless of who we are or from where we came, we will each face life events that challenge our sense of self. Our response to each event - a crossroad - can shape the remainder of our journey. I am honored to walk with you as you consider your paths and take those crucial steps.

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.
How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.
Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.
Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
