Whether in person or virtual, I offer a relaxed, inviting environment.
I believe therapy is a space for growth and change that can lead to stronger relationships, healthier ways of functioning, and a deeper sense of well-being. In our work together, I’ll bring empathy, respect, and genuine care. I know that therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. We’ll work together to find what feels right for you. Most importantly, I’ll offer a space where you feel safe, supported, and truly heard.

I prefer face-to-face sessions, though I can do telehealth if requested.
I am 70 years young. I have been a clinical social worker/psychotherapist in the Brazos Valley since 1988. I have a good "grapevine" of local professionals, so I often help clients with information/referral to resources for on-going support beyond therapy. I welcome questions you may have. I can be reached by text at 979-255-7004 or email. Also, please check out my Facebook page. I accept new clients as I have time slots available. I offer some evening appointments, as well as afternoon appointments, but no weekends. I will be semi-retiring in 2026, but will continue to maintain a small practice.

I work with clients who may feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in painful relationship patterns. They may carry trauma, shame, or self-doubt from past experiences and struggle with boundaries, trust, or feeling “not enough.” They want relief from constant overthinking and emotional triggers. They long to feel safe in their body, confident in their voice, and secure in relationships. Their goal is lasting change—not just coping, but healing at the source.

08/01/25 WILL be accepting new clients As a counselor and a retired cop, I have dealt with a wide range of tragedies that can drive a person to seek counseling. Life is messy, and my background will help me understand what you have been through. Trauma is an emotional injury, and like many physical injuries it can heal if you tend to it properly. Even if you haven’t suffered an extreme event, you may feel stuck and be unable to move forward. I retired from policing so that I could more directly help people put their lives back together. Having bad things happen shouldn’t keep you from being able to have a good life.

There are times in life we feel like we have reached a point that we need help getting back on track. Sometimes we have been experiencing this for a long time, sometimes it is sudden. There are times we need help learning how to successfully cope with our experiences and change how we view and approach our lives. When you have reached this point, I can help.

We prefer in-person sessions but do offer virtual sessions at your request.
Life feels overwhelming right now. Maybe you’re worried all the time, pulled in too many directions, or feeling alone even around the people you love. You just want things to feel easier—less stress, less fighting, less pressure to hold it all together. Deep down you long for connection, peace of mind, and relationships that feel safe and loving. You want to be able to breathe again, to laugh, and to feel more like yourself. You’re tired of trying to figure it out on your own and you’re ready for real support and change.

Life doesn't play fair. Addiction, trauma, crisis, and chaos can hit hard leaving you feeling stuck, angry or defeated. Healing begins when you feel, seen, heard and supported; especially when life feels overwhelming. I specialize in helping people untangle the toughest challenges, whether its substance/alcohol abuse, managing behavior struggles or risky situations, trauma, sexual assault recovery, anxiety, and depression. I also stand with first responders, veterans, and families who've seen and carried more than most people could imagine. I know firsthand what it means to perform under pressure while holding onto pain no one sees.

My clients seek therapy for a variety of reasons such as trauma, anxiety, depression, or hyperactivity. Building trust between client and counselor is the most important first step. Every client is unique, so together we explore effective ways to work through each issue and set realistic goals.

Accepting New Clients- I have a process-oriented approach to counseling, and consider myself an interpersonal counselor. I work toward understanding how family of origin (and other impactful relationships) has played a part in the current and present relationships that exists in the client's world. Within therapy, I like to focus on the process of the relationship the client is having inside the session, which usually mirrors the relationships outside the session.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
