If you’re exhausted from holding everything together, I hear you. Maybe you’ve been pushing through anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, relationship struggles, or a major life change while wondering how much longer you can keep doing it all on your own. You may feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply ready for something to change. Therapy can be a place to finally slow down, breathe, and feel understood without judgment. My goal is to help you make sense of what you’re carrying, reconnect with yourself, build healthier ways of coping, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and balance.

Leslie works with women and teens experiencing depression ranging from hormonal, postpartum and other medical causes to situational stress, anxiety, personality disorders, lack of coping skills or those struggling to work through grief and trauma.
I like my clients, which thankfully makes it easy to have compassion for who they are and what they have been through. Trauma is not our fault but it becomes our burden process, otherwise we can become someone else's source of pain. It is my goal to use all my counseling tools to help clients work through their barriers to emotional health.

Does anybody have a map, Anybody happen to know how the h--- to do this? Are lines from my favorite musical, Dear Evan Hansen. I resonate with them as a mom of young adults and a retired military wife. So often "I'm flying blind and making this up as I go." We need two things when we're overwhelmed--a plan and accountability. In other words, another person who has some idea how to find where I left myself and then how to help me move again in maybe a different direction. With less shame, less pretending, less judgment. More breathing room.

In our lives we will experience suffering, hardship and brokenness. Our lives are impacted individually and relationally by it. Often we find ourselves enraged, running, or hiding as we come into contact with areas of life that seem uncontrollable and daunting. The burden weighs heavy as we are unable to be who we were created to be. The depth of suffering becomes magnified in ourselves and our relationships and we desire for a lasting change. Sometimes holding to a Biblical worldview can make your source of counsel an added stressor in a hard season. Knowing that your counselor has the same worldview can be helpful and reassuring.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
