Children spend the majority of their time existing in a world built for adults. When they face challenges, they are often offered solutions that work for adults and, when those solutions don't work, it causes frustration for all parties involved. They may start to struggle with their behavior, struggle emotionally, and suffer socially. When these behavioral or mental health concerns are addressed appropriately, with techniques made for kids, growth and progress can occur, and that frustration can be relieved.

Congratulations on reaching out for help! I've been there and know it's not easy. In fact it's scary as hell! The fact is everyone on this planet struggles. It's the human condition and we all need help from time to time. I guarantee you that if I'm having problems with my plumbing, I call a plumber. I've been a therapist now for 30 years and can safely say I've pretty much seen it all. Most of us think our problems are really different than everyone else's, but I assure you we're all much more alike than we are different. The truth is everyone just wants to be happy, feel at peace, and have successful loving relationships.
I am a seasoned therapist who has 14 years of clinical experience working with individuals across a broad cultural spectrum. I have a special interest in treating anxiety-related disorders such as generalized anxiety, social anxiety and trauma, but I also address symptoms of depression that often coexist with anxiety. I am experienced in addressing issues that may arise during life transitions, such as parenting, divorce, empty nest, aging and grief.

My clients are bright teens, brilliant young adults, and some of the most loving parents and passionate professionals I know In fact, many of my clients are therapists nurses, or other "helpers" themselves. Some people start therapy seeking relief from anxiety or depression, recovery from an eating disorder, healing from a past hurt, or guidance for a specific issue in the present. In our work together, you will build new skills that foster authenticity, connection and resilience so that you can let go of perfectionism, avoidance, and any other armor that's keeping you stuck in harmful patterns.
Being present in today’s overstimulating world can be quite the challenge. Our roles as partners, parents, students, professionals… get caught in the mess of chronic stress and interpersonal conflict, leaving us burnt out. As humans, we tend to get entangled with our thoughts and emotions, not allowing us to take the next step, to grow, heal and truly live according to our values and goals.
Difficult memories, trauma and similar stressors can erode our sense of safety and stability. One may be left feeling numb, isolated, empty, misunderstood or unable to connect, or as if a mask is always on. One may feel always on alert or feel guilt for not “getting over it.” My message is: you are not alone! Whether a vehicle collision or relationship challenges, big secrets or hurricane, trauma and distressing events can impact our ability to cope. When you feel overwhelmed & vulnerable and your support systems don’t feel like enough, seeking outside help is the courageous next step.
Life can become a lot to manage alone sometimes. I have over 20 years of experience helping adults and adolescents learn skills to manage stress and anxiety, navigate relationships, decrease depression and negative self-talk, increase self-confidence, work through significant losses such as loved ones and beloved pets, and adjust to life transitions such as applying and going to college or new careers. If you choose to work together, you can expect my collaboration and total acceptance to explore your experiences and aspirations, gain perspective, find relief, and grow in ways that are meaningful to you.
