I have been practicing counseling/psychotherapy for over 20 years and have been facilitating family, couple and individual therapy since 1998. I am experienced in inpatient, partial day treatment and outpatient treatment, working with adolescents, adults, couples and families. Using a multi therapuetic approach I am non-judgemental and easy to talk to. I enjoy working with family systems issues as I feel anything impacting one of our family members impacts us all. As a native of Southeast Texas I am familiar with resources and am happy to refer individuals as needed.

The ideal client is one that is willing to work in session and practice out of session. I work best with clients that are willing to be honest and raw with me. I respect someone that can voice their truest thoughts/feelings/and behaviors because I will be equally direct with my identification of distortions in their thoughts and actions. The greatest acceptance of ourselves can only be achieved with an honest look inward. This honesty allows us see what strengths we desire to build and what needs we can reduce. With this direct, loving, and accepting approach, the counseling process can be maximized in its efficacy.

My name is Sean Martin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor from Southeast Texas. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and then a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Development, both from Lamar University. I became a fully Licensed Professional Counselor in 2014. My approach to therapy begins by working with you to establish trust and the safety of unconditional positive regard so that together we can work toward manifesting the changes you want to experience. I’ve come to learn that everyone has their own journey they must walk, so there is no “one size fits all” counseling technique.

I particularly enjoy working with individuals who have endured significant trauma, those with Borderline Personality Disorder & clients with
Narcissistic
Personality Disorder (or tendencies).
I ascribe to a humanistic and psychodynamic approach and philosophy of counseling with some cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) mixed in. I focus on client’s emotions, perspectives, and life experiences, rather than just treating symptoms. I believe each client is different, what works for one will not work for all. Therefore, I take a dynamically informed approach when creating a treatment plan that will work best for each individual. I work with clients ages 12 and up.

My name is Althea, I am a Filipino-American Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I am fluent in both English and Tagalog. Narcissistic
Emotional Abuse - Nothing makes sense anymore. Two plus two no longer equals four. I search, find nothing. I feel like I'm going 'crazy.' "You're imagining things! I might as well be doing it as you're always blaming me for something." BUT YET, I know they are doing the very thing they say they're not doing and I keep second guessing myself. I want a simple life, yet nothing is simple anymore. Everything is just plain CRAZINESS. If you can relate to any of these situations, you most likely are involved with a narcissist, are being emotionally abused and need help. Are you feeling hopeless, worthless, lost and confused?

We use a variety of techniques that are tailored to meet the needs of our clients with a special interest in self esteem/self worth issues, codependency,
NPD
& unconscious programming. Some individuals are unaware of limiting thoughts, beliefs & memories and stay stuck. Trapped trauma and unconscious programming plays a major role in mental & physical health problems as well as interpersonal relationships. In addition to psychotherapy we offer a unique & transformational experience called Zerobody Dry Flotation to aid and accelerate the healing process and to re program unconscious programming (one's blueprint of self and life).

I also specialize in working with individuals that have experienced mental/emotional abuse from a
narcissistic
parent, guardian, or romantic partner.
I believe that we all experience trauma at some point in our lives whether we recognize it or not. Unaddressed and unprocessed trauma affects all aspects of our lives - school, work, parenting and relationships. Initially, my goal is to help individuals understand and identify trauma and how it impacts everyday living. As the therapeutic process continues, I will aid in creating new healthy pathways of thinking as well as how to react and respond to triggers that result from past traumatic events.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists
What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?
Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.
How do therapists treat NPD?
By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.
Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?
Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.
How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?
It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
