I am a licensed psychologist who specializes is psychological evaluation. My practice also offers adolescent and adult individual psychotherapy for mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety, as well as adjusting to life changes and chronic illness. In addition, couples counseling is available for marital and relationship problems.

I specialize in counseling for individuals, couples, families and children. I am also experienced in anxiety and traumatic stress in children and adolescent . I support trauma and abuse victims of all ages, including adults. I have clinical experience as well with depression, traumatic grief and parenting issues. With an empasis on compassion, I work with each individual to help them build on their personal strengths so we can attain healing and personal growth.

Therapy goals are a joint process between the client and myself, the therapist. I assist with identifying presenting problems, while we collaborate on identifying goals to address the problems according to the client. Sometimes a client may just need some guidance on life decisions, or support getting through a tough time. Whatever the journey I'm here to help the client navigate through this process. Clients may need to see a new way of doing things in order to get to the next phase of life.

My name is Sean Martin and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor from Southeast Texas. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and then a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Development, both from Lamar University. I became a fully Licensed Professional Counselor in 2014. My approach to therapy begins by working with you to establish trust and the safety of unconditional positive regard so that together we can work toward manifesting the changes you want to experience. I’ve come to learn that everyone has their own journey they must walk, so there is no “one size fits all” counseling technique.

As an Individual Psychology and Humanistic professional counselor, I believe you, the client, have the ability to choose how best to resolve your problems and make decisions with my assistance as facilitator. You are responsible for your behaviors, thoughts, and feelings and are the world's leading expert on yourself. I encourage you to develop greater self-awareness and mental health through life experiences, building increased confidence, self-esteem, independence, and capacity to effectively navigate the challenges of life. I believe your sense of self-awareness and ability to make healthy choices are key to developing self-direction and independence.

Through my counseling practice, I desire to empower others to achieve a balanced state of wellbeing, discover their self-worth, reach their fullest potential, and live joyfully. I provide a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space for my client’s voice to be heard. Past trauma and current life transitions can be painful and difficult; however, I believe that each of us has the ability to heal and grow stronger. Counseling is a tool that helps us recognize harmful beliefs and behavior patterns, learn new skills with which to resolve problems, and facilitate lasting positive change in our lives.

I received my Master of Arts in Counseling with a concentration in marriage, couples, and family as well as a certification in play therapy from Sam Houston State University. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Texas A&M University. I am Level 2 certified in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and am supervised by Marion Marold Vickerman LMFT-S.

As my client, I hope to provide you with an open and safe space to be able to begin to understand your feelings, thoughts, and situations more clearly. Although many techniques can be used throughout therapy, I mostly use cognitive behavioral therapy. This approach allows for you to understand your behaviors and make the changes you need to become better equipped to handle the situations you are facing. By changing behaviors, you will be able to learn and grow mentally in a positive manner.

Lakesha McLaurin is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Lakesha’s professional mission is to provide her clients with the best quality of care, support, and assistance in helping them achieve their therapeutic goals. She believes that working with clients to achieve their therapeutic goals and improve their daily living is the most vital part in achieving a healthy and fulfilled life. Lakesha completed her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health at Henderson State University.
