You may be navigating burnout, anxiety, people-pleasing, or recovering from a toxic or narcissistic relationship. I help you understand what’s beneath the surface—trauma, attachment wounds, and chronic stress—and how it shapes your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Together, we break unhealthy cycles, build boundaries, regulate overwhelm, and help you feel more grounded, clear, and like yourself again.

Welcome! My name is Allison, and I am an LPC in the state of Texas. As a therapist, I believe it is important that we challenge ourselves and do hard work while also giving ourselves grace along the way. I enjoy working with those struggling with an eating disorder, body image distress, anxiety, and life changes. If this sounds like you, let's work together! In our first session, I will be gathering information to learn about you and what has brought you to counseling. We will work on setting goals and a plan for moving forward. Remember, this is YOUR session, so I will provide as much or little guidance as you would like.

I specialize in supporting individuals who are ready to navigate the complexities of personal growth, behavioral change, and major life shifts. Many of my clients come to me feeling a sense of "stuckness"—perhaps they are dealing with the weight of high-pressure environments, navigating the nuances of the legal or forensic systems, or simply trying to reconcile who they are with who they want to become. I work frequently with those facing specialized behavioral challenges and individuals seeking a structured yet compassionate environment to process their experiences.

As a Professional Counselor, I meet new clients with great interest. While getting acquainted, I like to note their strong qualities/abilities as well as recognize areas that need improvement to resolve pain or discomfort. I want to explore my client's own goals and seek methods that may help him/her approach them. I am ready to use cognitive, behavioral, interpersonal, psychodynamic or supportive therapy--whichever method or combination appears to be the best approach for the particular client with his/her particular needs. Sometimes, a new way of viewing a problem area is enough to accomplish major improvement.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at 33 years old and understand what it's like to live your entire life feeling like there's something wrong with you, only to find out your brain is just wired a little differently. Finding out you're neurodivergent, at any age, is an emotional journey that can include grief, anger, relief, excitement, and much more. Maybe your life is in shambles or maybe you are just looking for guidance and understanding. In any case, having someone in your corner that has experienced firsthand what you're facing is a game changer. You deserve to feel deeply seen, heard, and understood no matter where you are in life.

You want closeness in your relationships, but trusting others doesn’t come easily. Maybe you overthink conversations, brace for rejection, need constant reassurance, or shut down when conflict arises. On the outside, you may look high-functioning and capable. On the inside, you feel anxious, guarded, or unsure of where you stand. These patterns aren’t random. They often grow out of past experiences that shaped how you learned to attach, protect yourself, and survive. I help adults untangle attachment wounds and trauma so they can feel steadier, more secure, and more confident in their relationships.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counseling for seniors and the elderly different from counseling for other age groups?
In general, counseling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialize in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counseling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counselors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counselors specializing in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counselors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
