A strong sense of self and well-being. Healthy connection in relationships. Positive, vibrant sexuality. Most of us want a meaningful life infused with these qualities, yet many struggle with the impact of grief, trauma, and troubled relationships. Through integration of Somatic Experiencing, a body-centered psychotherapy, with psychodynamic, relational counseling, I support clients to find their own innate ability to grow, to change and to find their unique path to healing. Whether you are seeking support to make a few changes in your life, or a partner and ally on your journey of transformation, let's talk and see whether we might work together.

Maybe you experienced sexual abuse.
Recovering from trauma can help you live in the present instead of being stuck in the past. Together we can create a sense of safety to make the unspeakable things that happened less scary. We can reduce the ways trauma interferes with your life. I can help you feel confident in your ability to work with your emotions as opposed to having them overrun you.

My passion is to come alongside clients on the journey into their true potential. This may involve correcting negative beliefs formed in the past such as "unlovable, unworthy, never enough" and learning to cope with feelings of discomfort, loneliness, and overwhelmed. Helping adult children of addicted and dysfunctional families find their way into deeper meaningful connections while letting go of codependent behaviors and building boundaries remains close to my heart. I believe clients of all stages, gender, background, nationality, and sexual identity deserve hope and healing and feel honored to journey with you.

It is common to feel like the wheels have fallen off after life hands you the unexpected. Therapy can help you make sense of what’s happened, heal from it, and find a way forward that feels steady and meaningful.

Do you struggle with depression and anxiety? Is your mental health affecting your work, your family or your friendships? Do your thoughts seem to always fall into a negative loop of what could’ve been or what should be? Are you tired of laying awake at night unable to turn off your thoughts? Do you feel like you’re doing everything you’re suppose to but still wonder what’s missing? Could life be happier, more connected, less… miserable? If you identify with any of the above, you’re in the right place.

Specifically, those who have survived domestic violence and sexual assault.
Cześć! You don’t need to have everything figured out to start therapy. We’ll work at your pace. Some sessions might be about untangling deep-rooted beliefs or painful memories, while others may focus on building practical coping skills for daily life. I practice talk therapy in a way that feels collaborative and grounded. I’ll bring tools when they’re helpful, but more than anything, I offer a space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns. You’ve carried enough on your own. You’ve survived hard things. Therapy shouldn’t be one of them.

The journey toward healing and overall mental health can be difficult, and often, the most challenging part is knowing where to begin. You may feel stuck or even overwhelmed. My role is to eliminate that complexity, so you can concentrate on the path to recovery, and ultimately free yourself to focus on what matters to you most – your family, your career, your relationships. With specializations in research-based modalities - including EMDR, I empower my clients with the knowledge and understanding to face their challenges, stressors, or symptoms head-on. And in that process, free yourself from the mental barriers and fog weighing you down.

You want a competent sex and relationship therapist who knows what to do for your situation and gets right to the point. Experience and education matter to you because sex, sexuality, and your relationship(s) are important and you are struggling and stressed, and you are nervous about finding a therapist, especially a SEX therapist. You don't even know where to start. Maybe you are in your own individual or relationship therapy but sex and sexuality aren't being attended to or you are seeking additional consultation from a specialist. Or maybe your desires are guiding you to something new and exciting and you need support.

If you’re here, something in your relationship to your body, sexuality, or sense of safety may feel confusing, painful, or stuck. Many people come to therapy wondering if something is wrong with them. You’re not broken—your responses make sense, and healing is possible. I will work collaboratively with you to identify and reach your treatment goals. I often incorporate approaches that have been scientifically researched and found to be effective, including EMDR and somatic and mindfulness-based interventions.

I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma. Traumatic experiences can include: sexual and/or physical abuse, neglect, combat, accidents, natural disasters, grief, medical procedures, and work by first responders. In my experience, many individuals suffer from depression, anxiety, and substance abuse due to unresolved trauma. Yet, symptoms can either be eliminated or substantially resolved when it is properly processed. I have witnessed individuals, who have been unable to leave their homes or have healthy relationships, heal and transform their lives. It is fulfilling to be part of their journey.

Do you often feel misunderstood? Have you been told to toughen up because you are "too sensitive"? Do you long to feel closer to others but feel overwhelmed by the task? Having the capacity for depth and complexity can be difficult to navigate in our competitive, linear-oriented, results-driven culture. Knowing and accepting yourself for simply "you" (not who others think you should be) is an important practice to cultivate and will help release toxic stress and shame, allowing you to connect more deeply with yourself and others.

Sexual Abuse Therapists

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
