Through my clinical work, I’ve discovered a passion in working with folks who experience high functioning depression and anxiety, intergenerational and/or developmental trauma, or who struggle with disordered eating, body image and self esteem concerns.
Hi there! It's my goal in this therapy practice to help individuals experiencing depression and anxiety to regain groundedness and develop coping skills that will assist them in creating authentic, fulfilling lives on their own terms. I enjoy fostering a space that’s gender affirming and body positive, as well as sex positive and kink friendly/affirming. I also strive to provide a warm, supportive and judgment-free space that is culture affirming and trauma informed, with an understanding that you are the expert on your life.

I enjoy helping clients study their habitual patterns. Through repeated experiences we develop habits, but we don’t have to continue living that way. As we mindfully explore who we are, we give ourselves more freedom of choice about our habitual patterns and who we want to be. I have specialized experience in anxiety, depression, chronic pain, self-esteem, relationship issues, life transitions, and trauma.

I specialize in treating teens and adults with anxiety, eating disorders, low self esteem , and depression.
You have worked hard your entire life to do everything right. In a lot of ways, you have succeeded. However, sometimes you can't stand yourself for having "issues." You worry that if others notice, they will see you as weak. So many successful, wonderful people have anxiety, fears, negative thoughts, self-doubt, depression, and feel like they are never enough. I want you to know that you do not have to feel like this forever.

Depression is often overwhelming. It drains us of our energy, makes the world seem bleak and hopeless, and removes the pleasure, joy, and meaning from life. When we are depressed simple things are difficult, like getting out of bed, going to work, or simply being with others. Depression erodes our self-esteem and we often end up disliking ourselves and others, and we just want to hide away. Often these symptoms of depression cause even more depression – our withdrawal into ourselves leads to performance difficulties at school and work, and it isolates us from the very people we love and who love us.

Therapy provides the unique opportunity for you to adventure into and openly investigate your internal world. Emotional transformations can be akin to wading into the ocean or navigating a new trail in the forest. While these pursuits are exciting, they can also be intimidating, challenging, or frustrating at times. I view my role as your co-pilot; helping you to navigate what it is that brings you to therapy with the goal of unleashing your innate strengths and ability to overcome. I do so with a genuine curiosity and openness, integrating my training in mindfulness and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.

I work with eating disorders, body image, disordered eating, chronic dieting, self esteem , and womxn's issues from a social justice perspective.
Supervised by David Carrington, PhD, LMFT-S. Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. Ample and RootED Trained. I believe that the healing process is one of both relearning and unlearning. There are so many messages we receive throughout the lifespan about how to make ourselves most acceptable and how to create the fewest waves. I strive to provide openness, support, and radical acceptance for those who are wanting to unlearn these messages and relearn how to authentically take up brave space.

I utilize an integrated and holistic approach to therapy that is grounded in relational-cultural theory (RCT). I aim to understand and address the ways in which a client’s presenting concerns manifest in their mind, body, and spirit. I believe that clients come to me already holding the answers and guidance they are looking for and it is my role to help empower them to connect with their inner knowing. I encourage clients to increase mindfulness and emotional awareness to help them become an intentional creator of their experiences. I aim to help clients let go of shame and develop self-compassion.

People are naturally resilient with the right support. Therapy facilitates the healing process by helping you deeply understand yourself, with compassion, so your presenting concerns can be effectively addressed. My approach varies to fit the style and presenting issues of each client. Typically, I take a holistic approach combining in-depth traditional talk therapy with more recent, empirically-validated and present-focused approaches. I sometimes act as a life coach, helping clients change behaviors and discern choices that lead toward the lives they envision. My predominant focus is guiding deeper exploration that results in real inner transformation, personal fulfillment, and learning to love yourself.

As a therapist, I work to create a safe and nurturing environment that allows for self-inquiry and for exploration of the many parts that make up our beings. Together, we can explore and build upon your existing strength and capabilities in order to cultivate greater happiness and fulfillment. We will also work to nurture and make peace with the parts of yourself that you may fear or dislike. I believe that each individual and family brings to therapy everything that they need to make change, and it is my privilege to help you discover those parts of yourself that may lie deep within.

How much longer are you willing to put up with the same crap? The constant anxiety, worrying about what others are thinking, never speaking up for yourself. If life right now is exhausting, overwhelming, and stressful, you're in the right place. My clients spend time learning about how their pasts are connected to their present experiences, what boundaries are and how to set them with others, and how to deal with the constant onslaught of big emotions. Being human comes with enough bullshit, let me help you learn how to stand up for your needs and values.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
