In Person Therapists in Austin, TX
I provide both individual and couples psychotherapy. Various theories inform my work but conceptually I tend to favor a developmental perspective derived from Attachment Theory and Self Psychology, with a treatment approach that includes a blend of psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, cognitive behavioral, and relational models. Of all the ingredients of an effective and successful treatment, I believe the therapy relationship is paramount; a trusting relationship provides the secure foundation for an endeavor that can involve an immense amount of challenge and vulnerability.

I see courage and bravery whenever a client shares their story, and I feel honored to be a part of their healing journey. Our lives can take each of us in different directions and can contain various experiences that include: insecurities, confusion, anxiety, depression, and many other emotional states. Despite the chaos in our lives, one thing remains true: We don’t have to do it alone. Recognizing this takes a mature and strong person, and it is my hope to help facilitate your journey towards finding peace, clarity, and emotional well-being.

My approach to healing runs parallel to Phil Jackson's legendary philosophy - mindfulness, spiritual tradition, Native American wisdom, and deep human presence - but built entirely from my own life, my own healing, and my own method. I work with a select few on 6 and 12-month contracts because transformation at this level is not rushed. CEOs, politicians, athletes, and those seeking deeper meaning have trusted me with their most important work. Two-time award winner for Best Individual & Couples Therapy 2024 & 2025, Kyle, TX. 88+ five-star Google reviews. I don't accept insurance. I accept commitment — backed with fire.

I specialize in major life transitions. Perinatal & maternal mental health, perimenopause, menopause, grief and loss, issues of identity and mid-life changes, and older adult transitions are my areas of expertise. Clients seeking psychodynamic, relational, and body-oriented approaches tend to find a good match with my style and training. We often work with a sense of something greater than ourselves. I am certified in Jungian Somatics, Movement for Trauma and under the mentorship of its creator, Jane Clapp, and am involved in ongoing psychodynamic training and mentorship with the Austin Psychoanalytic Society.

If you're feeling overwhelmed with worry, anxious and on-edge, or helpless and sad—you're having a normal response to extraordinary circumstances. Life has thrown us all for a loop, and your nervous system is likely on high alert. Right now, many of us feel uncertain and stressed—and this lack of feeling safe can cause your mental health to suffer.

My theoretical orientation is varied depending on your needs. I help you to formulate your therapy goals in a collaborative fashion. Although therapy can be distressing at times, I often use humor to decrease distress and increase coping skills.
In addition, I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) techniques to build resources for positive coping skills. EMDR can help you face uncomfortable emotions, such as anxiety or depression, and reprocess traumatic memories.

I believe that people can change at any point in life, but sometimes lack the self-understanding, skills and belief in self to do so. In therapy, a person can take time away from the rush and demands of life in order to figure these things out, make plans for change and most importantly, implement change. I want to help clients develop their own skills (self-efficacy) to continue to grow outside a therapeutic setting. I have 35 years of experience in the mental health field working with a very wide range of psychological concerns.

In-person in South Austin or Virtually across TX.
The connection that once felt effortless now feels strained. You used to talk for hours, but now, every conversation seems to lead to conflict or silence. Maybe it’s the stress of daily life, lingering resentment, or a major transition—like a new baby, betrayal, or shifting roles—that has made it even harder to connect. Intimacy is fading, frustration is building, and no matter how much you try, you feel like you’re stuck in the same painful cycle. You miss the closeness and just want to feel like a team again.
You don’t have to navigate this alone.

As a relational therapist, I work from the understanding that secure relationships with ourselves and with others are essential to emotional well-being. Many of the women and couples I work with feel alone in their inner lives, carrying shame, overwhelm, or fear that facing the truth will trap them or collapse everything. I use interpersonal neurobiology to explore how the brain, body, and relationships shape experience. Together we create a safe space to build self trust, gain clarity, and strengthen connection, resilience, and understanding in life and relationships.

I believe that people should not be limited to a label. We are so much more than problems or disorders; we are strengthened by our flaws and our most difficult experiences can transform us. I am direct, interactive, and strongly believe that people change through healing relationships. In sessions we will work together at a pace that feels right for you. We will identify and prioritize your goals, address problems that get in the way of your happiness, and collaboratively build lasting solutions. I will listen to and accept your feedback about how we are working together.

It can be miserable in this world. Whether you're in pain, or just challenged, you could benefit from speaking with a trained listener to help you navigate obstacles. For 20 years I have specialized in guiding people through reviewing and reinventing themselves. I am not your “typical” mental health professional. I have been through the forest with limited tools, and I want better for you. The Therapy dogs can be near you also, if you want them to be!

I am available in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Wednesdays via virtual.
A client once said that on the day of everyone's birth, they should be assigned a therapist for life. At some time in your life wouldn't it be nice to have someone validate you, completely accept you without judgment and be there when you feel you can't go on? Perhaps you'd begin to see your strengths, learn how to think positively and understand that you can move forward no matter your situation.

You deserve a therapist who understands the layered, often complicated experience of growing up between cultures, identities, and expectations. My work centers young adults, teens, and first-generation clients navigating family dynamics, independence, big emotions, academic stress, or the pressure of being “the one who has to figure it out.”
My approach is warm, steady, and grounded. I’m here to help you untangle what’s yours, release what isn’t, and understand how your past and cultural story shape your present. Whether you’re working through trauma, anxiety, or the pressure to keep others afloat, I’ll help you build self-trust.

My approach to counseling is as unique as you are. I like to explore the past as a way to inform the present, while using the present to create real change. I enjoy building relationships with my clients through humor, understanding, authenticity, and acceptance. Working from an attachment perspective, the end goal with couples is that they become experts on each other and can therefore better navigate the relationship. Individually, we'll work on the goals that you bring in and practice new ways of engaging with self and others.
