Chances are, you’re here because you hold one or more magical identities that diverge from the so-called “norm.” Same here. I’m a proud queer, Latine psychotherapist that specializes in inclusive trauma therapy for the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, and fat/larger-bodied individuals. I work with those who want to go beyond just fixing behaviors towards understanding the trauma, systemic oppression, and harm that required those coping strategies in the first place. Many of the people I support are navigating anxiety, body image concerns and weight stigma, shame, and recovering from the harm of non-affirming community or family.

Something’s off and you can’t quite name it. You’re doing everything right. The career, the relationships, the keeping-it-together. But underneath, you’re exhausted. You’ve been in survival mode so long it feels normal. Maybe you grew up carrying more than a kid should. Maybe you’re first-gen, neurodivergent, or both, spending your life fitting into spaces that weren’t built for you. The self-help books, the podcasts, the social media therapists? None of it stuck. And now you’re wondering what’s wrong with you. Here’s what I want you to hear: you’re not broken. You never were.

I have served the field of psychology in the following ways: as a tenured professor specializing in ethics and multicultural training, on the Board of Trustees for the Texas Psychological Association, as president of the Society for the Psychology of Women of the American Psychological Association, on the executive boards for the Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity of the American Psychological Association and the National Latino Psychological Association.
Individuals, couples, and families who come to my office are generally in some sort of pain or discomfort, moving back and forth between what is happening in their lives and what they want from life. Our conversations help shed light on why this is happening and what we can do to help you feel better. Although I use a variety of psychotherapeutic methods in my practice, the foundation of my work is in the relationship we create, the trust we establish, and the compassion we share.

My path to becoming a therapist is deeply shaped by my lived experience as a first-generation Latine daughter of immigrants and a neurodivergent human. I didn’t choose trauma work, I kind of fell into it. Much of my journey has been about becoming the person I needed when I was younger, and now I get to offer that same care, presence, and safety to others.

You’re thoughtful, self-aware, and capable—but you feel disconnected from yourself, from other people, or from any clear sense of meaning. You may notice the same relationship patterns repeating, a persistent sense of emptiness, or a feeling that life looks fine on the outside but doesn’t feel right on the inside. You want more than coping skills—you want to understand yourself at a deeper level, feel genuinely connected to others, and live in a way that feels internally honest and meaningful.

My ideal clients are couples who are new parents and who care deeply about their relationship but feel disconnected or overwhelmed since having a baby. They want practical, non-judgmental support to improve communication, reduce conflict, and feel more like a team again while navigating the demands of early parenthood.

You’ve learned how to hold it all together — for your family, your work, and everyone who counts on you. Many of my clients are people of color, children of immigrants, and first-generation professionals balancing high expectations with an inner sense of disconnection. They often describe anxiety, burnout, or the exhaustion that comes from being “the strong one.” Even when things look fine on the outside, they feel weighed down by worry, self-criticism, or the sense that they can’t fully relax or just be themselves.
