I utilize various therapeutic techniques, including CBT, Gottman Method , RCT, and ACT.
I believe that we hold the ability to challenge ourselves, to grow through maximizing our strengths, and finding unique ways to add to the best parts that already exist within us. I have found that through sharing a space where openness and understanding (and a little bit of humor) are present, you also have the ability to flourish, whether that be through walking the journey alone or with the added support of those who love and care for you. I focus on helping adults, both individuals and couples, with anxiety/stress, self-esteem, depression, communication, and relationships

I have completed Level 2 of the empirically validated Gottman Method of Couples Counseling.
I provide an honest, casual approach that uses science, compassion, and intuition along with an active, participatory style; my goal is for our work to feel like a 2-way conversation, not a lecture. Regarding treatment modality, I come from a mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioral approach. This means that I teach mindfulness as a way to discover efficient solutions. While expertise in the treatment modality used is important, the modality itself is secondary in importance to your trust in me. To this end, I listen to more than just your circumstances; I get to know you and adapt to your unique personality.

The last years have been trying years for everyone. Perhaps they brought new behaviors from your partner, family member, or yourself. Maybe they reminded you of past traumas. Many have "big T" traumas like abuse or near-death experiences. We all have some "little t" traumas, like feeling rejected by others. Part of us gets stuck back to when we experienced the trauma. But you don't have to stay there! You can be free of the grip of both "big T" & "little t" traumas. These no longer have to affect you, your relationships, or many other things. Sign up today for a consultation at drdanielakrotzer.com!

I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist formally trained in a variety of approaches, including Gottman Method , Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy & Real Life Therapy.
Hi there. First, I'd like to wish you well -- especially as you work with a psychotherapist for movement in both your inner and outer lives, including in your relationships. Because each person and each relationship is unique, I've developed a variety of ways to do psychotherapy and relationship therapy that help individuals ascend and help couples relate more smoothly. Working with thoughts and feelings, with mind and with heart, people can move through what is in the way, blocking them from feeling better and being better. I'm honored to help with that movement.

I am a Gottman Method and EFT trained therapist.
My ideal client is human; inherently flawed and curious. This human is seeking collaboration, a non-judgmental space in which to grow, thrive, and learn through relational education between themselves and ultimately with others. The path chosen is ultimately one of healing, reconciliation, acceptance, growth, and forgiveness. The decision made to show up in therapy is a huge first step to move from surviving and stagnation to thriving and introspection. It is my honor whenever I have the opportunity to take this journey with you.

Gottman Method Therapists

How does the Gottman method work?

One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.

Is the Gottman method evidence-based?

Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.

How long does the Gottman method take?

The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.

Is the Gottman method effective?

Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
