I offer talk therapy, mindfulness, eco-therapy, expressive arts, and dance/ movement therapy—a body-based approach using movement to explore emotions and support healing.
Many of the people I work with long for deeper connection but feel weighed down by stress, grief, or painful past experiences. Some are exploring identity, relationships, or belonging and want a space where they can show up as their full selves. I especially welcome BIPOC clients and those living on the edges of societal norms (I proudly include myself here), including LGBTQ+, kink, and poly communities. In our work together, I draw from mindfulness, eco-therapy, relational, strengths-based, and somatic practices to support resilience, healing, and a greater sense of wholeness.

His aversion to food, movement and clothing are sensitivities she experiences to a lessor degree.
The free consultation I provide identifies Eliza’s areas of concern. We schedule her pelvic evaluation and collaborate on a treatment plan. As well, I evaluated her 4 year old’s sensitivity, and coordination. We prioritize the goals that bring each area into balance. At home I treat Eliza and her child, and with a home program they succeed!

When seeking care, nothing is scarier to transgender and non binary folx than winding up with a provider who is poorly informed about the issues that face our community. From understanding discrimination and harassment and the various intersectionalities of our personhood to the process of transitioning and navigating this process, having a mental health provider who is affirming and competent makes a huge difference, whether your current mental health concerns are or aren't related to your gender.

I take a holistic approach to therapy by integrating somatic techniques including deep breathing exercises, gentle movement, mindfulness, and body awareness exercises.
It can be hard to find a therapist who understands how living with marginalized identities impact the way we show up in the world—and for ourselves. I take a culturally-responsive and somatic (mind-body centered) approach and value authenticity and inclusivity in my work. I support individuals in understanding how their experiences, relationships, identities, and culture impact who they are and their behaviors and interactions in the world. I specialize in working with young adults, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals, and 1st and 2nd generation immigrants experiencing life transitions.

These experiences often stem from unresolved trauma, attachment injuries, or chronic nervous system activation. My approach is relational, experiential, and trauma-informed, grounded in nervous system regulation and attachment repair.

I help people who are struggling to develop a strong sense of self worth. I often work with people exploring identity and self acceptance who are experiencing symptoms like high anxiety, depression, difficulty coping with stress, and intrusive negative thoughts. Some therapists focus only on the symptoms which can feel incomplete, but I listen deeply to hear what’s going on underneath to help you process the old stories and beliefs held within that are cutting you off from your true self. Some of my specialties are helping people overcome anxiety and depression, building self-esteem, self-discovery, and using the expressive arts

Dance Movement Therapy

What can I expect from dance/movement therapy?

During dance therapy, the therapist will guide the client through dance movements that metaphorically represent a particular challenge, reflect their internal emotional state, or otherwise express physically what is happening for the client mentally. The therapist may “mirror” the client’s movements or simply observe. The client may be encouraged, as they dance, to pay attention to their breath or other physical sensations. Afterward, the therapist and client will often debrief to help the client process the experience.

Is dance/movement therapy evidence-based?

A small body of research has found that dance therapy can help treat conditions like depression, PTSD, anxiety, and eating disorders, as well as nonclinical issues like low self-esteem or family conflict. However, some experts caution that the evidence in favor of dance therapy is not as robust as that of other, more established therapies, and some of the published research is of low quality. Many recommend that dance therapy be used as a complementary rather than stand-alone treatment.

Can dance therapy help with depression?

Some research suggests that dance/movement therapy can aid in the treatment of depression, especially when combined with other therapies; some studies, for example, report that dance therapy combined with antidepressants or talk therapy is more effective than those treatments alone. The positive effects of dance therapy may come from the movement itself, as it’s well-known that physical activity can improve mood and bolster motivation in those struggling with depression.

What are the limitations of dance therapy?

People with disabilities or other conditions that hinder movement may find it more challenging to participate in dance therapy, though a well-trained therapist will take a client’s physical limitations into account when designing a treatment plan. Experts also warn that certain conditions, particularly eating disorders, should never be treated with dance therapy alone; it may, however, be used as an adjunct therapy.
