As the lead psychotherapist of Glasshouse, a Christian born in Nigeria, I get it! However, what is your peace worth? Glasshouse is here to help you fight for that peace without judgment.
As a person, do you find yourself struggling to maintain a balance between fulfilling spiritual, cultural, familial and societal obligations? Do you feel like you have lost your sense of identity while juggling such obligations? In a world full of unrealistic and forced expectations, people often are accused of being rebellious, guilty or selfish when they choose to focus on themselves and their needs. Secretly battling and wounded, many people find themselves to be depressed, anxious, angry, disappointed and unfulfilled.

Inclusion of Christian spirituality is available, but optional.
If you're seeking counseling, chances are you're struggling. Perhaps you feel stuck, unsatisfied or defeated. You might protest when you read these words, but you have what it takes to handle life’s challenges. I believe the key to whole and healthy living is your identity. My therapeutic approach sees each client as a piece of their whole family system, living in patterns and roles that have been shaped and formed by the relationships they grew up around. I am committed to providing safety, support, and encouragement in a non-judgmental setting for clients to uncover insights, abilities, and confidence to be their best self.

Our practice, Neema Counseling, is a Christian counseling practice that was founded with a vision to help those who are hurting.
I specialize in working with couples and young adults who feel suffocated by anxious thoughts and overwhelmed by emotions. I especially enjoy helping individuals who are developing their racial or ethnic identities as well as interracial or multicultural couples work through the challenges of blending two cultures in marriage. I work with clients in both English and Spanish, helping them gain clarity to confidently live the life they choose. I know from my own path to wellness that my therapy experience has freed me to live with intention. I feel honored to walk alongside others as they move toward self-discovery and acceptance.

I think what distinguishes my practice from other Christian /faith-based counselors is that I don't have a rigid or dogmatic approach to my care for people.
I would describe my practice as helping people work through life issues in ways that promote relational, emotional and spiritual growth. My clinical areas of interest include spirituality, depression, anxiety, and relationship problems. I also specialize in working with men's issues. I apply a Christian /faith-based approach to counseling and am trained in both theology and professional counseling. I am an ordained minister and pastoral counselor. I don't impose my beliefs on clients, and respect all faith/spiritual traditions as valuable resources for healing. Areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, childhood abuse, personality disorders, faith crisis, marriage, family, adolescent, and relationship issues.

I utilize EMDR, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFit), and mindfulness while incorporating a faith-based and Somatic approach in sessions. Some of my approaches include CBT, DBT, and integrating Christian principles if desired.
Life doesn’t always work out how we think it’s “supposed” to. You may feel stuck and not know which direction to go or how to get to where you want to be. This can cause anyone to feel anxious, depressed, stressed and overwhelmed. Seeking help for your mental health is one of the bravest things you will ever do.

If you so choose, I can integrate the Christian faith into therapy.
You know that sometimes life can be a lot. Sometimes our mind powers through and you are none the worse for wear. Other times, the brain gets stuck on sad or scared or angry. We want to let go and move on, but the restless nights and tiring days seem to last forever. All too often, the problems seep into relationships with the ones you love the most. During these phases of life, counseling can be the rope that you can use to pull yourself free – to get unstuck. Unstuck means you feel again in control of your emotions, your body, and your thoughts. Unstuck means you feel confident and safe in your relationships.

I am Christian and pastor’s wife but clients of any faith background are welcome.
Life can really be unpredictable at times. Whether it be a death, a diagnosis, career change, or divorce. Maybe parenting has more tears than happiness. Maybe your marriage isn't what you expected. Life can throw you curveballs and the constant pivoting and planning and required flexibility can weigh you down. You're not alone. We live in a world where fear and anxiety take the wheel but we crave solid ground. You just want a "normal" day; whatever that means.

As a licensed professional, Christian counselor, I can help you find specific tools and strengths to choose a new path, instead of relying on the same negative coping skills that make you feel desperate, ashamed, and unlovable.
If you're like most of my clients, you're no stranger to challenges. On the outside, you seem to be "thriving," but on the inside you're overwhelmed, burned out, and unsure if you'll ever feel better. You try to numb the pain: working more hours, eating fewer calories, avoiding your friends... but you still hear that voice: "you're not good enough." Trust me, you're not alone, and professional counseling can help. In our work together, you'll renew your sense of hope, deal with your burnout, and finally learn to apply your grit, creativity, and natural compassion to how you see yourself.

Are you ready to elevate your life to a level of liberation? John 8:36 in the Christian Bible proclaims, "Who the Son sets free is free indeed.
What imprisons you? Is it your constant overthinking? Your ruthless inner critic? The unrelenting need to be perfect? The guilt of wanting more and battling to be content? Do you ultimately feel you don't know who you are?

How can I find a therapist in Austin?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
