My office is an intersectional feminist space where we’ll explore society’s role in shaping your thoughts and feelings through trauma-informed art therapy and EMDR techniques.
You’re tired of feeling like a failure when it comes to your life and you’re ready to nourish yourself. I know this might be hard to believe, but the truth is, our bodies are so wise. I am here to guide you through possibly the most terrifying thing you will ever do, learning to listen to your body and process its experience. I specialize in working with young adults who have experienced childhood or recent sexual trauma and fellow therapists. Talk therapy is great, learning to express emotions through art -making and somatic body movement is better. With me, you can do both.

Art therapy using Collage: Click on the photos section to find an example of a collage done by a volunteer participant.
I specialize in working with individuals who struggle with issues of self-worth and low self esteem. Those negative beliefs color how we see ourselves and how we relate to others, often resulting in a cycle of recurring frustration and depression. Working with you to identify your strengths (even if you've forgotten them), we will collaborate in finding practical ways that can lead to lasting change & happiness. Since I am also an artist, I help you regain your ability to envision how you want to be going forward.

NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME: WAIT LIST AVAILABLE. If you're feeling the alone-in-a-crowd thing...like walking around in a fog? Stomach aches for no reason? Mind won't stop racing...maybe it's been hard to fall asleep for awhile - even harder to stay asleep (feeling refreshed is a distant memory). Maybe you've lost your patience and can't remember the last time you had it. Maybe the stuff you usually count on to re-charge is a big drain instead...and causing conflicts. If this sounds like you or someone you care about, Please consider reaching out. Find hope and reclaim yourself by tapping into your creative side.

I look forward to providing you with a customized therapeutic experience based on your individual needs, whether that be talk therapy or art therapy .
I know how challenging taking the first step toward getting help and support can be. It is difficult to find a therapist that feels like the right fit, to feel heard and well supported in those initial sessions. As your therapist, I will do my best to facilitate an authentic connection, where you feel seen, heard and compassionately understood. Holding space as you navigate your internal world and the way external influences (past trauma, families of origin etc) impact it will be one of my most important roles.

I also work with some clients- usually adolescents using creativity and art as I have a background in art and design.
I believe there comes a time in everyone's life when we will feel lost, disconnected or hopeless. We sometimes lose our ability to deal with life's challenges. This inability to deal with life's challenges can be frightening, confusing and problematic. What is needed at such moments in our life is an attuned and trusted other. Someone who can believe in us when we can't believe in ourselves. It is in this kind of therapeutic relationship where old wounds are healed and we learn to trust, manage our emotions and reconnect to our wise and true self.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
