Open and taking new clients! (in person/telehealth) The "ideal client" I imagine working with is an individual that is characterized by having difficulty coping with anxiety, self-esteem, ADHD, relationships, and offer Christian based counseling. The needs of the client I imagine would be empathy and compassion towards that individual, space for their voice to heard and their story to be respected. I imagine my ideal client would desire "practical" but, "impactful" coping techniques to alleviate symptoms. I imagine my "ideal" client aspiring to regain "control" back into their lives and to feel "empowered."

We travel various paths throughout our lives, weaving experiences together writing the story of who we are. Experiences may cause us to question the path, and suddenly our story no longer reflects the life we intended to live. At these times of questioning, we must explore how to proceed. If you find yourself looking for someone to talk with, to think through where life has led you, allow me to walk with you for a while on your journey. What meridian lines do you need to guide you to your destination? Let’s work together to find how your story shifted from your intended path, and let’s find how your journey continues.

It is truly an honor to help those seeking to heal and grow. At its most basic function, I believe therapy is about creating change, and my goal is to facilitate that change with compassion and without judgment. We can get stuck in patterns of thinking and behaving. When change is needed, it is helpful to dive into those patterns to determine what is still useful and helpful, and what no longer works - and importantly, how those patterns began. Change can feel daunting and scary, and the first step is recognizing the need for it. It's a privilege to be invited along with you on that journey.

I work primarily from an blend of psychodynamic and experiential viewpoints. In this structure, therapy is primarily aimed at helping clients become aware of and make productive use of deeper thoughts and feelings under the surface. As humans, over the years we suppress and manage our emotions in order to cope with everyday life, however, it is only when we acknowledge and express these emotions, that we can rediscover a passion for life.

My passion is joining and working alongside clients to support them in facing some of the most challenging experiences they have encountered in life, trauma and addiction. My calling to work with these areas is one of personal and familial experience. I have found that specializing in trauma and addiction, while challenging, can be the most rewarding through helping others overcome the struggles associated. Although this can be daunting work, my clients report increases in life fulfillment, self-esteem, healthy relationships, confidence and overcoming some very negative belief systems.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
