I specialize in helping clients overcome recent traumatic events and ongoing challenges like anxiety (including performance anxiety),
depression
, or loss. Trauma or attachment wounds can lead to overreactions in situations, feeling trapped in negative belief systems, and significantly impact workplace performance and the ability to form healthy relationships. As a trauma-informed therapist, I take pride in supporting high-achieving individuals who feel limited in reaching their full potential and clients who have experienced secondary trauma, such as medical professionals, teachers, judges, and police officers.

While I specialize in eating disorders, I have also experience treating OCD, anxiety,
depression
, trauma, and addiction.
Do you find yourself thinking about food and body image more often than not? Do you find that you are so overcome by guilt around food that you can't be present in your life? If so, then I can help! I specialize in treating adults and adolescents struggling with eating disorders. I also work with athletes/former athletes with disordered eating. Often times it can feel like our athletic identity is the only one that we have and that can feel really scary, especially when we lose that. I'm here to tell you that things can better and I can help you get there.

My clinical experience includes short and long-term treatment for relational issues, anxiety,
depression
, loss, sexuality, anger, adoption, and career-related issues.
Looking for more balance, meaning, and/or self-awareness in your life? Many of us already possess the knowledge, strengths, and resources to resolve our own problems; however, a trained and supportive professional can help identify tools and strengths as well as assist with improving coping skills. My role is to provide gentle guidance and encouragement to clients that are struggling or are facing challenges. I work to create a nurturing and safe environment that creates a comfortable place where we can explore issues and any negativity that may be getting in the way of leading a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Start-up founders often suffer from a great deal of anxiety,
depression
, stress and isolation. Anger may be a problem for you as well. While we work on these issues, we also work on individual leadership style and visions for the future. Previous or current addictions, broken relationships, and childhood trauma are often present in our work together. A deep understanding of how your past affects your present helps build and create healthy professional and personal relationships. We also examine existential themes in your life: use of power, creating meaning and purpose, responsibility, regrets.

Adults and teenagers with anxiety,
depression
, and relationship issues are my specialty. I would describe myself as a transparent and relational therapist. Going through any phase of life can have its tough times. Life stress and transitions can influence anxiety,
depression
, relationships, and more. I believe having a safe space to talk through your thoughts and feelings can transform your mental health. However difficult these times may be, I believe it can take time and support to explore how each person can have a voice in how they process their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. I offer video sessions and in-person sessions.

I am very comfortable working with a wide range of symptoms including troubled relationships,
depression
, anxiety, long-term trauma, addictions, and PTSD as both a general category and PTSD specifically resulting from sexual assault.
When I do my work, I am always asking myself the question, "What is it that this particular person needs in order to grow?" If I can provide you with an environment that helps you experience growth you will feel better.
Personal development is what makes us happy and gives us hope.
Most people come to therapy because they are hurting, stuck, and don't know what to do next. I will do my very best to help you find your unique self that you have either lost or not yet found.

The decision to begin psychotherapy is an important step towards personal growth and greater self-awareness. It is likely that you are experiencing some distress but also hopeful that by committing yourself to this process you will improve your mental health and overall satisfaction. An important part of succeeding in psychotherapy is your motivation level and a good match between you and your therapist. If you are experiencing
depression
, anxiety, relationship distress, or sexual intimacy issues, I recommend we arrange a brief phone interview so you can note how it feels to share these private matters with me.

Are you feeling stuck in the same old patterns in your life and ready for a change? Maybe you're feeling the weight of anxiety,
depression
, grief, or trauma and could use a hand in healing the past to experience freedom from it in the future. Have you noticed you keep getting into the same types of relationship challenges? It is normal for people to feel conflicted and get in our own way - it's part of being human! And we often need someone outside ourselves, friends, and family to help sort through the nitty-gritty thoughts, feelings, and fears. You don't have to face these issues alone.

What is the goal of therapy for depression?
Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognize and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.
What happens in therapy for depression?
Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.
What therapy types help with depression?
Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioral activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.
Can therapy for depression be done online?
Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.
How effective is therapy for depression?
Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
