Therapy is built on an interpersonal relationship between a therapist and client.
Struggling with your adolescent or teenager? It is vital that parents understand their teen's behavior rather than merely react to it. Working with me, your child will learn about themselves. They will discover their obstacles, and develop the inner strength and skills to make changes in themselves, It is immensely important for teens to have a neutral person to vent to, and teach them useful techniques to address their challenges. Teens experience many stressors which can lead to various issues that impact the entire family and many can be treated in therapy.

Feeling overwhelmed? Maybe you have gotten stuck thinking in circles about problems only to get nowhere and feel worse. You may be feeling scared, enraged, or hopeless. Strong emotions may be frustrating and disorienting. This can make it difficult to communicate with others, leaving you feeling even more alone. Together, we can decipher what messages these strong emotions are sending. I will not try to “fix” or change you. As we build a relationship and you tell your story, I will stay present, listen to understand, and provide warm, direct, and nonjudgmental feedback, allowing you to be exactly as you are.

Currently Accepting New Clients for Fridays - I specialize in helping teens and young adults process and work through relationship issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, loss and grief, behavioral issues, addiction, crisis, careers, and spirituality. While I see any individual, these are the populations I have grown to specialize in. I primarily work through a person-centered approach, believing in people’s capacity to overcome their issues while assisting them along the way. With the therapeutic relationship playing a large role in my job, it is my desire to connect with clients so they feel seen, heard, and helped.

I believe that clients grow and learn most in a therapeutic relationship where they feel safe, heard, and valued, which allows clients to explore their full selves, gain emotional awareness, and bring about positive changes in their lives. I find the authentic therapeutic relationship the most valuable part of the therapy process. I have a particular passion for helping clients who have family of origin concerns and who are part of the queer and/or trans community. I aim to create an inclusive space where clients can explore the impact of power, privilege, and systemic oppression, for both privileged and marginalized identities.

Adults and teenagers with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues are my specialty. I would describe myself as a transparent and relational therapist. Going through any phase of life can have its tough times. Life stress and transitions can influence anxiety, depression, relationships, and more. I believe having a safe space to talk through your thoughts and feelings can transform your mental health. However difficult these times may be, I believe it can take time and support to explore how each person can have a voice in how they process their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. I offer video sessions and in-person sessions.

COUPLES and TRAUMA expert. Are you willing to engage in a collaborative and dynamic approach that moves you closer to the life you want? I am not a cookie-cutter therapist with a script for me and a worksheet for you. However, I have the tools to guide you towards claiming the life you want. I explore SEX and eroticism, complex trauma and life transitions. I work with couples and individuals. I still prefer working with clients face-to-face. I encourage clients to fire a therapist who's not a good fit (me included). If you are ready to dive in deep and do some healing work, I may be the right fit for you!

With your partner , a new partner , yourself, and how you live.
I specialize in open, nonmonogamous relationships such as polyamory and swinging, alternative lifestyles such as kink / BDSM, LGBT+, and secular or alternative faiths such as paganism. Trying to live more freely and authentically can be hard. Some struggle feeling something is wrong with them. Some people have just been polybombed, the love of their life seeming to say they’re not enough. Others, having taken the leap can’t seem to stop fighting. Feeling isolated, scared, tired, and like they're going to lose everything.

A therapeutic relationship can really help to feel more connected to yourself and the ones you love.
If you struggle with loneliness, depression and anxiety. If you struggle in your relationships to feel fulfilled and nourished because of experiences in your childhood, we are a good fit! This can include parental neglect, alcoholism, abandonment, and abuse. You function well but often times feel that it is not enough and feel that you just aren't doing things the right way. I work in a direct but compassionate way to navigate through these painful experiences in order to get more of your needs met and to experience more fulfilling relationships. We work together to find what suits you and your needs.

***I am not currently accepting new clients*** Struggling with life transitions, creative ruts, and relationships are difficult in any situation but especially so if you do not follow the heteronormative path. It can be difficult to open up to someone when you are not certain that they understand Queer and Alternative relationship structures. I use an individualized approach with each client to build a therapeutic relationship based on specific goals. I focus my work around issues regarding LGBTQ+, sexuality, non-binary and transgender, complex relationships, power dynamics, sexual health, BDSM/Kink, and other dynamics.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
