Therapy unravels the confusing knots of anxiety and depression as needs and boundaries become more intuitive.
Feeling overwhelmed? Maybe you have gotten stuck thinking in circles about problems only to get nowhere and feel worse. You may be feeling scared, enraged, or hopeless. Strong emotions may be frustrating and disorienting. This can make it difficult to communicate with others, leaving you feeling even more alone. Together, we can decipher what messages these strong emotions are sending. I will not try to “fix” or change you. As we build a relationship and you tell your story, I will stay present, listen to understand, and provide warm, direct, and nonjudgmental feedback, allowing you to be exactly as you are.

Start-up founders often suffer from a great deal of anxiety , depression, and isolation. Sometimes you feel too passive; others too aggressive. While we work on these issues, we also work on individual leadership style, visions for the future, and creativity. Themes in addiction (porn, alcohol, food), broken relationships, childhood trauma, and anger are often present in our work together. A deeper understanding of how your past affects your present helps build and repair relationships. We delve into creating meaning and purpose in your professional and personal life.

I provide a supportive space to help you process painful experiences and emotions, explore the barriers that might be keeping you stuck, and foster a new mindset that will empower you to make positive changes. Trauma changes us, whether we know it or not, it creates new pathways in our brain that attempt to continue protecting us even when danger has passed. Many of us continue to use trauma responses in everyday life even though they are no longer necessary nor effective. Trauma may be showing up for you as anxiety , anger outbursts or short fuse, sadness, as a difficulty in connecting with others or difficulty adjusting to changes in your life. Together we will work on discovering new pathways to coping with everyday life while also acknowledging the traumatic events, however small or big, that changed you.

My clients come in experiencing self-doubt, anxiety and believing they are not quite “good enough”. Maybe you’re feeling the constant weight of perfectionism in your life and relationships. You could be tired of over performing for others and under delivering to yourself. Many of my clients overly accommodate others at the expense of their own needs, resulting in uneasiness in the body, nervous system exhaustion and burnout! I see therapy as a way to start connecting with and speaking your truth and to finally quit abandoning yourself! Most of my clients are younger women (UT students welcome!) however, I see all genders ages 18+.

I work with individuals struggling with eating disorders (including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and ARFID), anxiety and depression, and interpersonal conflicts.
As we move through life, we encounter difficulties and may find ourselves engaging in actions that do not align with our values. Whether you are struggling with a complicated relationship, emotions that seem unmanageable or low self-worth, therapy can be your pathway to peace. I invite you to create a strong, genuine relationship with me in which you feel safe exploring what may be keeping you “stuck”. Together, we can build a life of fulfillment for you. I am here to create a warm, nonjudgmental space for you to heal from your past, accept your present and enhance your future.

I get it- you feel frantic, helpless panic in relationships. You fixate on what your partner is doing or thinking. And you often feel desperate for connection with them. And you’re ready to stop. You are a high-achieving, successful, capable person in the rest of your life; so why are you like this in relationships? It’s not your fault. No one taught you how to be your best self in these intimate, meaningful relationships. This was my lived experience, too. In fact, I still struggle with some of this patterning and residue. But I know that there is relief for you ahead.

My clinical experience includes short and long-term treatment for relational issues, anxiety , depression, loss, sexuality, anger, adoption, and career-related issues.
Looking for more balance, meaning, and/or self-awareness in your life? Many of us already possess the knowledge, strengths, and resources to resolve our own problems; however, a trained and supportive professional can help identify tools and strengths as well as assist with improving coping skills. My role is to provide gentle guidance, support, and encouragement to clients that are struggling or are facing challenges. I work to create a nurturing and safe environment that creates a comfortable place where we can explore issues and any negativity that may be getting in the way of leading a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

***PLEASE NOTE: I AM CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS.*** I believe in the power of connection. Whether you are dealing with divorce, the loss of a loved one, or are at a crossroads in your career, you don't need to do the work alone. I serve clients dealing with stress, anxiety and conflict by providing emotional support and helping each client develop his or her unique strengths and abilities into effective coping skills. I also encourage dialogue with family and friends, and I include loved ones in sessions whenever possible, so that each client can create his or her own community of support.

“Start where you are” is a guiding principle in my work and in my life. My goal is to meet my clients in their present moment experience, incorporating compassion and gentleness into our sessions together. If you are someone whose mind races a million miles a minute and most of these thoughts are fearful, judgmental or worrisome, I can truly empathize. If we work together, we will move at a pace that feels respectful of where you are in your life and develop a path forward with the hope that you can decrease levels of anxiety and connect to your intuition.

Clients that seek my expertise experienced recent traumatic events or reports ongoing Anxiety (including Performance Anxiety ), Depression, or Loss. My work is trauma-focused and includes secondary trauma for medical, police or judges. Signs of being affected by traumatic events or childhood attachment wounding, is noticing you are overreacting (getting triggered) in situations, and feeling stuck in negative belief systems. My work helps clients develop a strong sense of self and an ability to set healthy boundaries. I especially enjoy working with clients that find their past experiences limits their ability to function optimally.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
