Additionally, I have completed Gottman Method Couples Level 1 training, Child- Parent Relationship Training provider, and currently working towards my Registered Play Therapist credential.
Parents, you’re feeling increasingly frustrated, helpless, or even hopeless with your child’s behavior such as tantrums, anger control/aggressive behavior, separation anxiety, general anxiety, negative feedback from school/daycare, difficulties focusing, or your child is struggling with self-esteem/self-confidence. My goal is to help your child be able to gain self-responsibility, self-esteem, and self-confidence through play therapy while also supporting you with real skills you can utilize outside the playroom. I also specialize in couples as well as adults with concerns of anxiety, depression, life changes, PTSD and trauma.

Specialties include anxiety, trauma, and parenting .
I work with children, adults and families. Individual experiences as well as experiences in a family system are unique. There are times in our lives that difficulties arise and unexpected life changes can leave us with feelings of hurt, stress, grief, anxiety, depression, and more. Counseling is a powerful tool that can help us understand, cope, and move forward in ways that are productive, purposeful and meaningful. Seeking counsel is a brave and powerful choice. It often brings great comfort knowing that you are absolutely welcomed into the process of counseling and that you do not have to walk through your experiences alone.

In my therapy practice, I work with individuals, couples, and families who are dealing with a variety of issues including chronic and acute illnesses, childhood sexual abuse, addiction, substance use disorder, marital problems, infidelity, anxiety, depression, minority stress (related to sexuality and racism), parenting issues, and sexual problems.
I believe that each of us struggles to find meaning and connection. Although others tell us that the solution is simple, change is difficult. We often become discouraged that we do not have the power to create the life and relationships we long for. My job as your therapist is to instill confidence and equip you with skills to create a life where your problems no longer manage you. Life will never be perfect, but therapy can help you overcome difficulties that prevent you from living your best life.

I work with clients who have experienced broken relationships of all kinds, including: domestic violence, sexual abuse, parent /child relationships, mood disorders, love addiction, co-dependency, women’s issues, depression, anxiety, and life transitions.
In this world there is indeed trouble, darkness, violence, and loss. Looking for the light and meaning in it all can seem hopeless. When you feel that you have lost your way or true self altogether trying to fight it alone, I am here to help you seek the truth and be transformed by the renewal of your mind. It is my desire to help clients identify the messages they believe, often subconsciously, beneath the rhythms of daily life. These messages are often memory-informed and can interrupt our relationships, thought process, bodies, daily functioning, and self perception.

You can develop tools to help you or your child regulate your moods, communicate more effectively, and gain confidence in yourself or your parenting , and increase you or your child's sense of well being.
Do you often feel the need to withdraw from the world to recharge? Maybe you don't jump into new situations as readily as others. You've always felt a nagging sense that you or your child are different from the rest of the world. You worry constantly about being enough or not failing. You overthink and notice things far more than other people you know. You find yourself struggling to keep up with the pace of our busy world and wonder how others seem to do it so easily. You follow the rules, you perform well at work or school, but you still don't feel satisfied with yourself. Or maybe this describes your child and you want to help.

One of the greatest of all human longings is the our desire for relational intimacy. Yet many of us feel isolated and disconnected from both God and others. However, God’s plan from the beginning has been for His people to draw near to Him, and to each other. But though this theme is present from Genesis to Revelation, the church’s understanding of it is has often been limited. Join us at Rockhill as we examine these truths and chart a hopeful path through this season of your life. At Rockhill we can work together in a, quiet, beautiful environment with horses, birds, goats and chickens there to remind us of God's hand in it all.

As a therapist, I believe in treating the individual, not a diagnosis or a problem. I do not believe that people are broken. Sometimes we get buried, sometimes life comes at us so hard, we can barely breathe and sometimes we lose sight of who we are and/or what we want in life. Many of us can easily cite what we do as human doings, but we struggle to identify who we are as human beings. As a therapist, I am passionate about collaborating with my clients and helping them to recover purpose, passion and meaning in their lives.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
