I believe that counseling is something that everyone can benefit from. Counseling is not advice giving; it is teaching, empathizing, and listening. Are you going through something that you're not sure how to deal with? Is your
teen
or preteen struggling with something and you don't know how to help? Are you feeling overwhelmed by emotions and life? I am here for you. As a graduate of Dallas Baptist University with a Master's of Arts in Professional Counseling, I have been trained to help you and it is something that I desire to do.

If you are like most of us, your story hasn’t gone the way you thought. Each time you make a choice, it feels like you get more stuck. You feel stressed, overwhelmed, and tired of running in circles when you know there is something better out there. You want to get out of this place of feeling worthless, seeing your relationships suffer, and hurting emotionally, mentally, and even physically. You might see your
teen
experiencing these same things. It is time to take control of your story, instead of floating along and letting it happen. I can help you write the life you want to live as an individual, couple, and family.

I offer individual, couple and family therapy and have found that my passion lies within helping adolescents navigate through the good, the bad and the ugly of being a
teenager
, as well as providing support throughout the young adult years.
I believe that therapy is a unique experience that provides a safe place to assist in acknowledging resiliency, providing hope and cultivating healing and growth within individuals and interpersonal relationships. All clients come in with their own personality, strengths, struggles, and differing walks of life. In order to match this, I operate from a person-centered approach and emphasize each individual’s strengths to empower and challenge them to grow while assisting in defining their own goals and successes.

Life can include so many exciting, adventurous, pleasurable planned or unplanned experiences that make it interesting, while other experiences can be overwhelming, unexpected, scary, lonely, or even dangerous to live through. You are NOT alone; these experiences are common in human nature, and we don't always have the best skills to manage through them and we end up being left with our own devices (I like to call these your "survival skills"). These devices have got you through majority of your life and they worked, but maybe know not as well as they did before...

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
