I enjoy working with neurodivergent adults living with chronic illness or pain who also carry trauma and anxiety.
Many of my clients have histories of emotional neglect, medical trauma, chronic invalidation, or burnout from masking and pushing past their limits. Symptoms like anxiety, dissociation, sensory overload, or exhaustion often make sense when we understand them as nervous system survival responses, not personal failures.

I've worked in a variety of settings including corrections, VA & other hospitals, and private practice and use that to help adults facing relationship issues, mood concerns, life stressors, queer/non-monogamous folks, and chronic illness.
You've lost your spark and find yourself feeling tired, confused, maybe irritable, and even hopeless. As much as you've tried to improve relationships with others and your own well-being, you feel stuck. You feel misunderstood by others and struggle to relate or trust loved ones. You've maybe even tried therapy before without avail and are trying again in hopes of healing. You are looking for connection, not only to others, but also to yourself. Looking to others, online, and maybe within yourself has left you with more questions than answers. Above all, you want harmony, balance, or peace.

Most of my clients are navigating chronic illness, disability, trauma, or burnout.
My specialty is guiding clients to reconnect with their values and navigate life’s challenges without abandoning themselves. Using ACT, we’ll build tools to unhook from intrusive thoughts, tolerate discomfort, and take meaningful action. You don’t have to be “fixed” to build a life that feels authentic, purposeful, and workable.

While my practice specializes in challenges around life transitions, adjustment, grief, aging, caregiving issues, and chronic illness, over the years I have also had the privilege of working successfully with people bringing a broad range of other concerns, including depression, career counseling, anxiety, parenting concerns, and self-esteem.
On the surface, things are going well, but maybe you've felt anxious or sad for a long time. Often times relationships, work, children- the responsibilities just keep piling up, and you're downright overwhelmed. You know that finding balance is important, but you often wonder what that even means. At the same time, you realize something has to change. Life can be painful. Therapy doesn't have to be and my goal is to make it less scary, help you feel heard, and encourage you to look within yourself to access the strength and tools that will propel your life forward. Let's connect!

She is an excellent therapist for anyone needing support with chronic illness or caregiving stress.
Starting therapy can feel unsettling, especially if it’s your first time or if you’ve had a difficult experience before. Many people seek therapy feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or unsure how to move forward. You may be carrying the emotional weight of major life changes, relationship challenges, chronic stress, or medical concerns. You’re longing for balance, relief, clarity, and healthier boundaries so you can feel like yourself again. My goal is to meet you where you are and walk alongside you at a pace that feels safe and respectful, with you in the driver’s seat.

Some of these areas include play therapy, self-harm behaviors, teen & young adult issues, and those battling with chronic illness such as diabetes and cancer (caregivers too!).
Let's face it. You've tried therapy before. It wasn't for you, and truly people don't understand you anyway. What would happen if you tried it one more time? Maybe you're wondering what life would look like if you started learning coping skills and began healing. Life can be challenging, and you don't have to venture through it alone. We can navigate through this together. As your therapist, I commit to supporting you on this adventure and beyond!

Therapy is a partnership, and we will work collaboratively to achieve your goals. I believe in providing a compassionate and nonjudgmental space for you to process and grow. Everyone’s needs are different therefore I take a highly individualized approach when working with you. My background as a community organizer has also taught me that community care is self-care, and that social justice work is also healing work. Systemic oppression impacts our lives in many ways, and I invite you to unpack those issues in our sessions. Note: My practice is currently 100% virtual.

I believe life’s ups and downs give depth and meaning to life, however, as these occur, a person's unique inner rhythm may become unbalanced. If you are experiencing infertility or a medical illness, stress, anxiety, loss, or relationship issues, your life may feel unsettled. Counseling can help calm the chaos by helping you to identify thoughts, feelings, and behaviors not serving you well and replace them with healthy productive ones. You can develop acceptance and skills, grieve and process difficult emotions, and problem-solve to move forward in life. We can work together to restore your inner balance and bring you inner peace.

Chronic Illness Therapists
How does therapy for chronic illness work?
Many people living with a chronic illness may feel they cannot speak honestly about their experience out of embarrassment or fear of being a burden, or because those close to them do not understand, for example, that they may “look good” even if they do not feel good. Therapy sessions are an opportunity to speak openly with someone who knows their symptoms are not in their head and who can offer practical, proven suggestions for managing feelings of grief, shame, or fatigue, such as techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts about symptoms and develop new ways to respond to them, such as distraction or calming breathing practices.

Can therapy help with physical symptoms of chronic illness?
Yes, especially if an individual with chronic illness has developed depression. People with depression are less likely to maintain their health treatment regimens or to take positive steps to manage physical symptoms when they arise, thereby potentially complicating their medical prognosis. Treatment of depression, through talk therapy, medication, or both, will often improve one’s physical state as it eases the emotional burden of illness.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic illness?
No one living with a chronic illness, or their loved ones, should see depression as an unavoidable result of their condition. Instead, they should actively seek treatment. Research shows that people with depression are less likely to devote the required time and effort to maintaining or monitoring their health, and so therapy to limit the risk of depression can be vital for physical health as well. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction have been found to help individuals reduce stress and anxiety.

How long does therapy for chronic illness take?
There is no set timeline for therapy for people living with chronic illnesses, but many will see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 weekly sessions. Some people feel that they experience progress faster than others but even some who quickly feel improvement may continue with sessions for months or years. Some people may benefit from maintenance therapy if their symptoms change or they experience a decline in physical health. Others find that the skills learned in short-term therapy can be used on an ongoing basis, even after therapy has concluded.
