LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapists in Alvarado, TX
I help with anxiety, depression, trauma, and LGBTQIA concerns.
Are you carrying pain that others can’t see. You may feel alone, stuck in cycles of anxiety, shame, or relationship struggles that keep repeating. Often these patterns begin in environments where emotional needs weren’t fully seen or supported, leaving you in survival mode, overthinking, shutting down, or doubting yourself. Therapy can be a space to understand these patterns with compassion rather than judgment. I help adults explore the roots of these experiences and reconnect with their sense of self so they can move toward greater clarity, balance, and authenticity. I am here to help you through this in a safe space.

I work with couples/individuals stuck in unhealthy communication patterns, negative thought patterns, and feeling disconnected by helping them to develop secure attachments and safety in their relationships, using EFT and CBT. I use Narrative Therapy and SFBT for those who want brief or long-term therapy. Individuals with underlying traumas that are impacting their relationships, helping them to process and adjust, using CBT, EMDR, and WET. I also help clients learn balance with the belief that clients must be willing to identify or trace back where things got off track and then be open to change.

Full Intentions is a therapy and movement practice that works at the intersection of mental health, identity, and the body. Most of the people who find us are carrying more than they talk about stress, anxiety, trauma, burnout, emotional numbness, impulsive patterns, or the pressure to keep it together for everyone else. We don’t rush your healing or ask you to “just think differently.”

I see kids, teens, and adults who are bright, thoughtful, and exhausted from trying to hold it all together, hoping testing might bring answers. Maybe no one has truly seen them. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, burnout, or some religious trauma, and maybe they wonder if ADHD or autism explains lifelong patterns. They need clarity, validation, and practical next steps: and zero judgment. Their goal is to understand their brain, reduce shame, and function with more ease. They want answers so they can stop blaming themselves and start living confidently and authentically. I'm a trained neuropsychologist and here to help.

You might look put-together on the outside, but inside it often feels like chaos. Maybe you're stuck in patterns that don’t make sense, people-pleasing, shutting down, chasing love that never quite lands. You’re emotionally exhausted, but underneath it all is something deeper: a longing to feel connected, to yourself and others, in a way that feels real.
I work with people who’ve been through a lot. Childhood trauma, complex relationships, difficult parents, devastating losses, abuse, and those harmed by religion. If you've been told you're "too much" or "too sensitive," you're not, but you are in the right place.

I am a LGBT+ affirming therapist and work with individuals, teens, couples and families.
Life can be wonderful, interesting, challenging but no one ever said it would be easy! Never before have we faced such a difficult onslaught of problems affecting our work, school, social and even medical aspects of our lives. The good news is that counseling has never been easier to access. Our friends tell us what we want to hear, counselors tell us what we need to hear and give us the tools to make changes to help us on our journey. I have been a counselor since 1991 and am just as passionate about my work today as the day I started.

LGBTQ+ Therapists
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.
Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.
How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.
Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
