I work with couples/individuals stuck in unhealthy communication patterns, negative thought patterns, and feeling disconnected by helping them to develop secure attachments and safety in their relationships, using EFT and CBT.
Thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can all change, but can you accept that? Or would you prefer a life where things constantly felt "off," and you weren't your best self? And it showed up in many areas of your life. Change can be as simple as being open to growth, healthy communication, self-acceptance, and improving interpersonal relationships.

I work with women who feel overwhelmed by the pressure to balance career, relationships, and motherhood. Many struggle with anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, or feeling like they’ve lost themselves while caring for everyone else. They want relief from the constant mental load, more confidence, and the ability to set boundaries without guilt. In therapy, we focus on managing anxiety, reducing overwhelm, and helping you reconnect with yourself so you can feel more calm, confident, and balanced in your daily life.

What happens in your house doesn't have to stay there if it's hurting you! As an African-American woman, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges that my community faces and I understand the stigma surrounding mental health. I work with individuals navigating childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, heartbreak, along with the complexities of adulthood, offering support through life’s transitions with clarity and empathy.

You’ve been feeling disconnected from your adopted child/ren. It’s been so exhausting that it’s led to burnout. You’ve even started to build resentment. You wish parenting wasn't so draining, impossible, and difficult. You pour everything into your kids, and it's never enough. You want the deep connection you always hoped for. Some days, you’re so angry and bitter because this is not what being a mom was supposed to be like and certainly not what you signed up for when you adopted. You long to feel joy and connection in parenting.

Here you are. Things may not be bad, but they aren’t really good either. It’s amazing how much pain, unhappiness, emptiness and isolation we are willing to endure before we do anything. Perhaps you have tried everything you can imagine and nothing worked. You may be frightened that things will never be good again. The good news is our body, mind and spirit are hard-wired for healing. Sometimes, you may just need a little help. Especially, when others have worked hard to tear you down.

Hey — I'm really glad you found your way here. Whatever brought you to this page, it took something to get here, and that already says a lot about you. Maybe you and your partner keep having the same fight with no end in sight. Maybe the closeness you once had feels far away, and you're not sure how to find your way back. Or maybe things have gotten so painful that you're not even sure what you want anymore — and that's okay. You don't have to have it figured out to show up.

Healing is often portrayed as becoming "whole" again, as though difficult experiences have somehow made us less complete. I believe healing does not equal brokenness. Whether you are navigating PTSD & trauma, anxiety, self-esteem challenges, or feeling disconnected from yourself, healing is not out of reach; it is already within you. My passion is to help you experience genuine freedom in your healing and reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been dimmed along the way.

I believe healing begins with connection. My practice was founded on the idea that every individual—child, adolescent, or adult—deserves a safe space to explore their story, strengthen their resilience, and build a life that feels meaningful. I honor that individuality in a therapeutic space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow at a pace that feels authentic to them. Healing is not one size fits all. It is person centered. I approach counseling as a collaborative journey, honoring the unique cultural, familial, and personal experiences that shape each person’s path.

Need a compassionate counselor who also teaches practical tools? If you're like most of my clients, you want someone who does more than just offer an ear and a safe space to talk. Maybe you are looking for someone who also offers direction towards the goals you set for yourself from the beginning, providing feedback along the way, and sometimes homework to help build your coping skills and life resources. If this sounds like you, I invite you to an initial session to see if we may be a good fit. Optional: If you want to incorporate a Christian faith-based approach, just ask me how we can bring faith into your counseling experience.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
