Trying to find the elusive "work-life balance" before social distancing and schools being shut down was hard enough! Now with the coronavirus we are struggling even more with increased anxiety, difficulty sleeping, feeling isolated, kids arguing about everything, and no way to get out and socialize or utilize our previous modes of coping. You do not have to walk this new path alone! We offer tele-therapy sessions to anywhere in the state of Texas...whether you are needing short-term help to just get through this public health crisis or more long-term therapeutic work; we would be honored to assist you.

Working with children began at the young age of 16 and has continued through all educational experiences. Children show so much emotion through their play that it is sometimes hard for the parents to catch onto their children's emotions and feelings. I hope to be that person that is there for the child/adolescent/teenager through all aspects of their life that can be a listening ear and someone they can lean on when they can't tell their family what is going on. I also hope to work collaboratively with the parents/guardians in helping maintain what is learned in the room, into the outside world.

My goal as a clinician is to join you on your healing journey. During times of difficulty, it can feel as though we are walking through the swampland of our souls. My hope is to throw on some rain boots and take that trek with you! My therapeutic theory is that we as individuals are not defined by our struggles, but that we are whole, healthy individuals. It is important that we work collaboratively against these struggles and rediscover those whole and healthy identities. My particular areas of interest include eating disorders, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I began my professional journey as a young adult working in various settings with people struggling to make better choices. As I worked with individuals from widely diverse backgrounds and walks of life, I began to appreciate the power of one hand reaching out. I became profoundly aware that most people are able to build a more fulfilling life, not because of good advice, but because another person was willing to walk with them, assist them in navigating unfamiliar territory, and be part of the process of discovering their potential.

I firmly believe in meeting the client in where they are in their life’s journey, creating a place free of judgment or barriers. I believe everyone has the chance for personal growth and can benefit from therapy. The mind can create cognitive distortions, inaccurate thoughts that produce negative emotions. My belief is that challenging those negative thoughts at their onset is the best line of defense to keep you from reinforcing the negative thought pattern.

I believe that with the right professional help, healing is possible. Everyone has a unique story to tell. It's critical to understand that you're not alone in your experience. Working with teenagers and their parents provided me with valuable insight into what they desire to achieve in their healing journey. Life can be difficult at times, but you must remember that you are in charge of your own destiny and that you are the only person who can solve your problems. I work with adolescent and preadolescent children as well as their parents. Depression, anxiety, and career counseling with teenagers are my main areas of expertise.
