Hi! It's great to meet you! My name is Terri Peng. I am a LCSW and am licensed in TX, CA, & MA. I am also a Marine Corps veteran. It can be a very daunting process to find a therapist, especially if it's something that is new to you. Whether you have been to therapy your entire life, went once several years ago, or are brand new to it, I hope I can be the therapist to wholeheartedly gain your trust and confidence in me. I look at people from a humanist perspective- as a whole, rather than from different aspects of their lives. Building rapport with transparency and humor is what you can expect from sessions with me.

You're not quite sure where to go or what to do next. You're stuck. You've made a courageous decision to seek help. Perhaps you are struggling with self-esteem issues. Maybe you're at a crossroads and unsure of your identity, of who you are. It could be
anger management
or depression that brought you here or you're looking to tame your monkey mind. Perception is key. How you view your surroundings and you take in feedback from that environment is real. Your feelings are real. Your experience is real. My goal is to craft an environment that allows you to feel safe and feel emboldened to be true.

Life is often the most stressful when things are unpredictable and out of our control. So, it's not unusual, with the state of the world today, we might be feeling more stressed than we normally do. Things you've been able to cope with in the past you might be finding more difficult to handle. That's a normal response to a very abnormal situation. In times like this, we have to focus on what we can control and learn to cope with things we can't change. My role is to assist you in the process

I address such issues as anxiety, panic attacks, depression, grief and loss,
anger
, and guilt and forgiveness.
If you're looking for someone who will listen, who will do their best to hear you out to understand where you're coming from, give me a call. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but together we just might find what you're looking for. I seek to provide a supportive environment where you can be heard, understood, and accepted apart from the judgmental reactions and opinions of others, where it is hoped that you will be able to face your own issues and decide for yourself what the best course of action might be.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
