My work is grounded in connection, growth, and creating a space where clients feel safe enough to explore life’s more difficult experiences. I believe in grace, acceptance, and the idea that meaningful change often happens through small, intentional shifts rather than pressure to “fix” yourself. I have a particular heart for individuals navigating miscarriage and infant loss and have experience supporting both individuals and grieving communities. I also work with women around concerns such as body image, ADHD, self-compassion, and life transitions. I work primarily with adults and adolescents ages 12 and older.

I help people who are struggling to develop a strong sense of self worth. I often work with people exploring identity and self acceptance who are experiencing symptoms like high anxiety, depression, difficulty coping with stress, and intrusive negative thoughts. Some therapists focus only on the symptoms which can feel incomplete, but I listen deeply to hear what’s going on underneath to help you process the old stories and beliefs held within that are cutting you off from your true self. Some of my specialties are helping people overcome anxiety and depression, building self-esteem, self-discovery, and using the expressive arts

I've worked in the field for 26 years and providing EMDR for over 19. I specialize in treating unresolved trauma issues, as well as depression, stress and anxiety. Traumatic issues include childhood abuse (physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect), sexual assault (including military), crime/theft, car accidents, grief/loss, combat, first responders/medical professionals, veterans (including moral injury) and poor leadership. My experience has taught me that most of the time depression and anxiety are unresolved emotional wounds that haven't been fully addressed. When addressed those injuries will be resolved.

Witnessing the healing process as it unfolds within individuals who enter psychotherapy is an honor. Each of us has the potential to live our best life and heal from past traumas or disappointments. I work with people who have a drive to heal from trauma and gain insight into the inner workings of the self. I often refer to the unconscious and attachment relationships to help people gain insight. I also offer psychological assessments for children and adults for ADHD, autism and other psychological disorders.

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
