Hi there! My name is Twyla Coy and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who utilizes both CBT and Narrative Therapy to treat clients. In my approach to therapy, I believe every client is unique and thus requires a tailored plan to address symptoms and concerns. Though at times I may be considered eclectic in my treatment, I tend to operate mostly from a Cognitive-Behavioral and Narrative approach.
As a clinician, I feel it is important to foster a non-judgmental and empathetic atmosphere for clients to truly open themselves up to the therapeutic process. I think it is important to challenge clients, when necessary, and when there's safety to do so, in order to cultivate personal growth.
When working with clients, I place a high value on collaboration and empowerment in the goal making process. I encourage clients to identify goals for therapy in their own words and try to act as a soundboard for them to clarify and specify what changes they want to work towards.
