About
Are you finding it difficult to cope or wondering if the way you're feeling is "normal"? I am passionate about working with people during difficult times and life transitions so that they can feel connected, “normal”, and more in control. I'm trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Grief and Trauma therapy. I utilize a wide range of other treatment methods as well to include cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, family systems, and person- centered. I focus on creating an environment of acceptance and respect that is free of judgement.
I have a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Wayne State University and a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Central Michigan University. I served eight years in the U.S. Army with a one-year deployment to Afghanistan, and I worked as a high school reading intervention teacher for five years.
My background as a high school teacher has given me much experience with the adolescent and young adult age group. My time with the military has offered me a worldly perspective and has made me acutely aware of the issues that veterans, frontline workers and first responders may be dealing with especially during this global pandemic.
