My clients deal with a wide range of issues: emotions that often feel intense and out of control, suicidal behaviors, anxiety, depression, trauma and self harming behaviors. For this I use DBT and mindfulness to help them stabilize, make new choices and have a life they feel is worth living. I also work with seniors dealing with aging issues, depression, anxiety, and the grief of losing friends to death. Along with that, I work with grief and caregiver burn out. I use CBT reframing, mindfulness and EFT principles to support and assist. I have a wide range of experience with helping clients dealing with chronic illness and death.
DBT is the backbone of how I conduct therapy. I also engage in mindfulness therapies, Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) and use prolonged exposure therapy for OCD and phobias. For deep personal and emotional hurts, I have been trained in and use the Emotionally Focused principles (EFT) of Sue Johnson.
The experience of talking to a therapist can be very vulnerable. I specialize in working with you as a team. Using a nonjudgmental stance, we focus on what is effective and reduce embarrasement and shame related to difficult symptoms. I also will be open, transparent and engage you fully to consider your goals and needs in therapy.
