Welcome! Congratulations on making it this far in your search for a better life! The information below is provided to help you decide whether you want to work with me. If questions remain, you can email or call to arrange a free 15-minute consultation. My therapeutic approach is based on good general counseling skills, meaning that regardless of the theories employed, I strive to promote a professional relationship in which you feel heard and seen and validated. I rely primarily on motivational interviewing and cognitive behavior therapy but often use additional approaches, such as DBT, EMDR, ACT, RCT, and more.
One of the best parts of my job is getting to work with so many different kinds of people. I particularly enjoy helping those who have experienced marginalization (due to, e.g., psychiatric history or severity, socioeconomic status, race or ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity or expression, relationship structure, national origin, religion, age, etc.).
As a social worker, I consider each person in the context of their broader social environment, recognize and support individual strengths, focus on empowering clients, and defend every client's right to socially responsible self-determination. Most importantly, I consider my clients to be whole, complex human beings—not a set of problems or disorders.
