I specialize in children, adolescents, families, and couples. I am married with two adult girls and a husband of 28 years. Please know this doesn't make me an expert on teens, children, or marriage. However, it does give me insight and life experiences along with my training to help clients in these life stages. I enjoy working with clients to navigate life-stage changes within family systems. I enjoy working with teens, preteens, and children as young as 4 years old. I have 16 years of experience in teaching and an additional 8 years in youth and children's ministry. I also work with couples in pre-marital and marital counseling.
Children tend to show unusual behavior, such as tantrums, big emotions, and meltdowns when trying to communicate a problem. Teens may be experiencing anxiety, depression, or compliance issues. Helping both parents and teens/children during these times is done through play and family play sessions along with parent resources to navigate changes.
My heart is for the family. It is important for a therapist to understand that families look different for everyone. I am here to listen to a family's culture and walk alongside the parents to navigate tough situations.
