Are sports more mental or physical? Sports are played with the body, but won with the mind. Encountering feelings of anxiety, perfectionism, poor self-esteem and depression are all common. According to a 2019 study, up to 35% of elite athletes suffer from a mental health crisis that may be displayed as stress, eating disorders, burn out, or depression and anxiety. High achievers who are under constant scrutiny can experience negative thinking, anxiety and self-doubt and feelings of inadequacy.
I work closely with athletes (age 16+) to overcome mental barriers, such as self-doubt, performance anxiety, mental road blocks, overcoming fear of failure, coping with injury, managing pressure and their emotions. In addition, helping athletes communicate effectively with their coaches and teammates.
Together we can retrain your brain, reframe your negative self-talk, overcome mental road blocks, improve communication, decrease anxiety and improve your overall mental health and sport performance.
