Why Play Therapy? This is a frequently asked question. I believe that through play, children express themselves in their own developmentally appropriate way. Through play and other expressive therapies, children can resolve problems, cope with difficult emotions,improve cognitive development and help resolve inner conflicts. Although I work mainly with children, my education and training also allow me the opportunity to work with adults on certain issues.

I am a clinical psychologist trained to work Adolescents and Adults who are experiencing many forms of psychological distress including depression, anxiety, life transitions, loss, and divorce. I am also a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist trained to work with all Eating Disorders, including Anorexia, Bulimia, Food Addiction and Compulsive Overeating. I use an eclectic and individualized approach to treatment with a strong focus on the Internal Family Systems treatment model. This model helps to more deeply explore wounds and burdens within the individual and then work to heal those wounds in a respectful and compassionate way.

Abby is a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Tennessee and Georgia and is a Nationally Certified Counselor. Abby graduated from Richmont Graduate University in 2012 with a Masters in Professional Counseling and a Specialization in Trauma Counseling. She has since continued her education in trauma counseling with EMDR Training, training in healing attachment following trauma, the impact of trauma on religion and spirituality, and military culture training. Abby specializes in seeing people of all ages with a history of trauma or abuse, including rape, childhood abuse, combat PTSD, and more, as well as assisting couples with relational and communication issues.

Meredith is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a background in both acute inpatient and traditional outpatient settings. She received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lipscomb University. Meredith practices evidence-based techniques and approaches to therapy. Some of her clinical interests include: depressive disorders, managing stress and anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, relational issues, trauma and abuse, grief, self-esteem, health/wellness, life transitions, and creating and maintaining healthy boundaries.

Specializing in anxiety and depression, I strive to help individuals practice becoming more healthy in their emotional, physical, and spiritual lives. Our relationships have such a huge impact on how we feel and what we think on a daily basis and I focus on strengthening healthy, positive relationships and discontinuing or limiting those relationships that are harmful and hurtful.

I have worked as an inpatient counselor in a state run mental hospital and recently as an outpatient counselor in a drug and alcohol treatment center; therefore, I have diagnosis and treatment experience on many different levels. Life is filled with change. Oftentimes, we have to confront things we never expected. I have worked extensively with individuals, couples, families and groups. My specialities are PTSD, relationship problems, depression, anxiety, OCD, co-dependency, domestic violence, children's behavioral problems, chemical abuse and dependency. My clients tell me that my direct style of interacting has been very helpful for them.
