My name is Jo (Jordan) and I am a licensed mental health counselor associate (LMHCA) in the state of Washington. I aim to join with clients to use evidence-based interventions that allow them to overcome the perspectives and patterns in life that don't serve them- especially those that stem from big and small traumas that create distress in our daily lives. The modalities I use are approached from a strengths-based lens, though I primarily work with clients who are interested in EMDR Therapy. It's often disheartening to know that trauma changes the brain, but healing changes it too and brings you back to self-worth, and to YOU!
I work predominately with adult clients who experience symptoms of trauma including those with PTSD and CPTSD. I additionally use EMDR therapy as an evidence-based psychotherapy to help people recover from distressing life experiences and mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and panic disorders- and from past issues like attachment problems.
Trauma gets stuck in the nervous system and means we are carrying distress with us through the day-to-day. I am committed to helping clients reprocess their perspectives to create a sense of their own safety and worth, to feel acceptance of themselves and all their parts, and to empower them to face their futures with confidence.
