Are you a so-called empath, overachiever, perfectionist or riddled with anxiety? Has life all just become a little too much and you need some space to process it? Boy, isn’t that the truth. Do you or someone you love have a brain health challenge? Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury/concussion, mild cognitive impairment, multiple sclerosis, ADHD, problems with concentration or memory? Good news. I’m a board-certified neuropsychologist and we can handle that together. I know what these challenges mean - scientifically, and how they affect your day-to-day and relationships.

Every person goes through a period in their life where they desire to make changes, face difficulties, find the courage to challenge themselves, or simply find that their old ways are no longer serving them in their life. I take the time to understand each client in order to tailor their treatment to their uniques circumstances. In my practice I thoroughly believe that a connection between therapist and client is the foundation for healing and change. It is an honor to provide the services that I do. My goal is to provide a nonjudgmental safe place for healing.

My ideal clients value honesty, responsibility, respect, and personal growth. They are self-motivated and ready to make lasting changes in their lives for their own benefit. They understand that counseling is a process - a journey - and that they will get out of it what they put into it. They understand that it may be uncomfortable at times, and that things may temporarily get worse before they get better, but they understand the need to stay committed to their own healing and recovery because by doing so, they will find freedom from bondage. I am a trained ART Therapist. Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a form of psychotherapy with roots in existing evidence-based therapies. Which has shown to achieve benefits much more rapidly usually within few sessions? Clients with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, (PTSD) substance abuse, sexual abuse and many other physical conditions. My ideal client is one who is striving to make a change. In order for this to occur, there must be cooperation and mutual respect between all parties. I will also work with those who are unable to express their feelings & thoughts and who have built these up due to the stigma regarding mental health.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Therapists
When should someone seek treatment for a traumatic brain injury?
People should seek a diagnosis and treatment after a head injury, especially if they were unconscious, and an early diagnosis can lead to a better recovery. Signs of a concussion include headaches, nausea or vomiting, exhaustion, dizziness, vision problems, sensitivity to light and sound, problems with attention and memory, brain fog, unusual irritability or sadness, and unusual sleep patterns.
What’s the most common treatment for a traumatic brain injury?
Treatment for a traumatic brain injury will be different depending on the severity of the problem. For mild injuries, treatment may involve rest and over-the-counter pain or headache medication. For moderate or severe injuries, treatment may involve stabilization, medication, and rehabilitative therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cognitive therapy, and counseling.
How long does it take to recover from traumatic brain injury?
The recovery time for a traumatic brain injury depends on the individual and the severity and nature of the injury; the length of time spent unconscious is often an indicator of severity. Recovery time for mild injuries may be a week or two while recovery time for more severe injuries may be six months to two years. Research suggests that the vast majority of recovery occurs in the first two years after an injury; recovery after that time frame is less certain.
What if a traumatic brain injury is left untreated?
If a traumatic brain injury is left untreated, it can lead to long-term physical and mental health problems. Physical problems may include dizziness, headaches, vision, healing, or speech loss, and an elevated risk of dementia. Psychological problems may include impairments of memory, judgment, and decision-making, depression, aggression, poor impulse control, and personality changes.
