As a Christian counselor, I believe God created perfection and placed it all in the Garden of Eden. Unfortunately, sin entered the picture and people have been struggling with the effects of sin ever since. Sometimes that struggle is beyond our resources and understanding. Now accepting insurance! I see both adults and adolescents for a variety of concerns that include depression, anger issues, anxiety, behavioral issues, and school issues. I work very heavily with adolescents and adults who are experiencing the aftermath of trauma. PTSD, depression, anxiety (especially socially based), anger, identity confusion, and attachment issues are all things that one can experience when trying to get through a difficult time or life event. For some, trauma is not the concern. Their struggling with who they are, where they fit in, and how they connect with others.

My therapeutic style involves helping you to arrive at insight, strategies, and tools that you can begin using immediately to make positive change in your life. I want to be able to create a safe place for you where you do not feel judged. I want you to be able to share your concerns and thoughts openly and freely with me. I love to provide you with concrete tools wherever possible and help you to have a plan for the following days before our next session, if that is the pace you would like to move at Most importantly, we are going to make sure we are making progress on goals that you have for yourself. Trauma can be the root of the problems in our lives. I am a clinical social worker experienced in trauma including physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, life threatening situations, grief/loss, and other traumatic events. I am highly experienced in the most common diagnoses including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and adjustment issues. My therapeutic philosophy is: build trust, develop a therapeutic relationship, and work together to develop treatment goals and a plan to successfully meet those goals.

We live in a society that has made vulnerability seen as weakness, ironically, it is what allows us to be human and make connections. Do you feel a struggle in making connections? I have worked with a diverse set of populations providing trauma therapy and neurofeedback therapy. Throughout my career, I have built trauma-focused programs at different mental health organizations. With a passion for working with combat veterans, I have also been a contracted Neurofeedback clinician with the Lone Survivor Foundation to serve those that served our nation. I led a trauma team in the Santa Fe District to implement systems and provide trauma-wellness counseling services to students and staff in the district in response to the May 18th mass violence tragedy at Santa Fe High School.

I'm a native of Chicago and grew up in the heart of the Midwest. I have lived and worked in Africa, Europe, Asia, South America, and the Caribbean. I have been active working as a middle and high school counselor, a therapist for Integral Care of Austin, and more recently in private practice.

Dr. Ranton has experience in university counseling centers, community mental health, and neuropsychology clinics, serving adult clients with a variety of mental health concerns. Additionally, Dr. Ranton has specialized training in psychological assessments, trauma focused therapy, interpersonal relationships, and couples therapy using the Gottman Method.

I have 20+ years of experience working in psychiatric hospitals, medical facilities, community health centers, pediatric clinics, schools, and residential treatment centers. I offered many years to working with children, adolescents, parents, and families through child protective services, rape crisis centers, shelters, neighborhood centers, and adoption centers. I am experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders including PTSD, Depression, Trauma, Anxiety, & Psychosis including the management of other symptoms that stem from family/ relationship conflict, social difficulties, poor school performance, and violence/ abuse.

My primary goal is to provide a helping hand to clients in need. Clients will find that I am able to listen and provide helpful strategies to help navigate through whatever journey they find themselves on. Whether it be a young child, adolescent, or adult, I am able to keep them at the center of the therapeutic process and help them discover peace and purpose.

Kimberly specializes in co-occurring disorders and is passionate about helping clients utilizing a myriad of techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Mindfulness-based Practices (MBP). Kimberly is a trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist and administers this evidenced-based treatment to individuals suffering Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Substance Use Disorders, and Chronic Pain.
