I am a licensed professional counselor that specializes in working with children with emotional and behavioral issues including those who come from hard places and have experienced various types of trauma. I operate from an attachment perspective to help children, parents and families strengthen their relationships to get their deepest needs met. Being an adoptive father I have a particular heart for adoption and foster care.

Many individuals are confronted at certain times in their life with a set of challenges and difficulties that seem insurmountable or overwhelming. Julius M. Jefferies is a Clinical Mental Health Therapist serving the Knox County area of Tennessee with specialties in a wide range of individual, couple, and group therapy interventions. His clinical experience in the last 25 years has focused on holistic, solution-focused therapy for both adolescents and adults who are living with autism, crisis, psychological disorder, trauma, and grief.  Julius earned a Masters of Mental Health Counseling from Freed-Hardeman University followed by specialty certifications in Grief Counseling, Autism Disorder Specialist intervention, and as an End of Life Doula.

My work as a counselor focuses on helping individuals use the strengths they already possess to enact positive change within their lives. I firmly believe that as people, we possess the powers within us to solve almost any problem that life throws at us. I have more than 30 years of experience as both a clinical psychologist and a neuropsychologist. As a neuropsychologist I provide assessments and diagnoses for ADHD, Autism, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Head Trauma, Dementia, Personality Disorders, and other neurological and emotional diagnoses. As a clinical psychologist, I work with stress/anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, Bipolar, PTSD, head trauma, dementia and relationship issues and other emotional and behavioral difficulties. Tony is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has extensive experience treating both first responders and military personnel and their dependents for trauma-related issues as well as a host of other concerns. Tony and his family reside in West Knoxville and he is well versed in the Tennessee culture having been raised in East Tennessee. In addition to an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Tony earned a Master of Divinity and served for over 15 years in the pastoral setting. From his broad academic and experiential background he brings to the clinical setting a wealth of wisdom and skill with a unique perspective.

I view therapy (and the world) through an intersectional, social justice, trauma- and attachment-informed lens. I believe that a diagnosis does not define who people are, have been, or will become and I prefer to work collaboratively to determine what works best in regard to the therapeutic process. My approach is informed by a variety of philosophies and models including Internal Family Systems, somatic practices, and Buddhist/mindfulness philosophy. I provide psychoeducation and support for building resilience, learning effective communication, understanding emotions, and being fully present and embodied.

I have experience working with clients and families of any makeup and any age. I primarily work with children, adolescents, and young adults as well as their parents. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and a trauma-informed IFS and EMDR therapist. I work with clients who are struggling with sexually compulsive and addictive behaviors including compulsive porn use, infidelity, sexual aversions, and other problematic behaviors.
