You’ve had enough! The stress has been building. You hold it in but then the littlest thing pushes you over the edge. No one truly understands everything you’ve been through but you aren’t sure you want to let them in. Life has been cruel at times! You try to push it away. It's impossible. Triggers are everywhere. The anxiety and despair in those moments is more than you can handle! Your world becomes small in hopes that you can avoid these feelings but it only makes things worse. You are stuck in a vicious cycle. Nothing seems to help. You don’t want to keep living this way but you don’t know what to do or where to go.

The goal of my approach to therapy is to get your defense system out of the way so that you can operate out of your true sense of self, begin to create boundaries, and make choices truly reflective of your own wants and needs. When you achieve this, you no longer need to rely upon the destructive coping techniques previously used to prevent your full evolution and integration of body, mind, and spirit.

Sometimes this means lessening your symptoms of anxiety or depression, or maybe it's working towards a specific goal like changing jobs or making friends. It can also look like wanting to find your true, authentic self, which can be exploring gender, sexuality, life after loss, or even just trying to figure out who you are!

At times, we all find ourselves pushed to the limits of what we can cope with. We work hard to escape familiar, painful cycles, only to end up where we began. Some of us are attempting to salvage marriages with spouses we dearly love, yet with whom we continue to engage in the same old arguments, losing hope that we can ever recover the connection we once had. Others may be battling crippling anxiety or trying to shake the cloud of depression that darkens our every step. We are left exhausted, discouraged, and hopeless.

I work with those who struggle with trauma, relationship problems, and not taking care of oneself first. I have experience working with those who have sexual abuse or assault histories, trauma within problematic relationships, and compassion fatigue. Trauma comes in all sizes and from a variety of experiences, so do not discount what you have lived through. No matter the circumstances that bring you into therapy, we will spend time healing your wounds to help you grow into the person you wish to be, with a stronger sense of safety.
