I view the counseling process as an agent of change where the counselor and the client(s) have mutually agreed to engage in work towards agreed upon goals to benefit the client. This relationship is built on mutual respect, specifically regarding the client’s worldview, beliefs, and autonomy. My theoretical orientation is eclectic and includes components of cognitive-behavioral theory, person-centered perspectives, and positive psychology. In my practice, I utilize strengths-based approaches and techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy.

I am fully licensed in both MS and LA. Life can be full of challenges and we navigate each day as best we can. I am here to help you find direction in your life, discover who you are / who you want to be, and help navigate those difficult relationships whether interpersonal, marital, or other. I welcome to discuss and process life challenges and offer tools to help you navigate day-to-day difficulties and anxieties. I offer a listening ear and a comfortable space in which respect and acceptance are a top priority. I have experience with adolescent, marital, pre-marital, couples, individual, group(s), and family counseling.

Lauren received her B.S. in Psychology in 2006 and M.S. in Counseling in 2011 from William Carey University. She is very passionate about working with individuals, children/adolescents, and families to improve relationships and quality of life. Lauren is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Aggression Replacement Training (ART), Collaborative Problem Solving(CPS), the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (ACRA), and has training in being an Adoptions Competent Counselor.

Growth is a natural part of life. However, it can seem scary and impossible, at times, to achieve. When I think about the times in my life where I have grown as a person and as a therapist, they were the times when I felt the most challenged and vulnerable. The same can be said for the process of therapy. It can be extremely difficult and, at the same time, extremely rewarding. That is why I believe in using both support and gentle challenges to help clients meet their goals. I aim to help clients have a safe, supportive space for them to be their most authentic, vulnerable selves.

My office is the place where you can drop off that heavy baggage and learn how not to pick it back up when you leave.

We are a Husband and Wife team who have the tools available to change your life. The form of therapy we use is different than your ordinary "talk therapy." Everything is done in action through techniques such as role play, double, role reversal, soliloquy, and scene setting. We specialize in helping people who struggle with RELATIONAL TRAUMA. Relational trauma is the experience of repeated neglect, abuse, bullying, or other type of behavior that causes lasting psychological harm. It's usually perpetrated by a family member or other close loved one, and the repercussions are chronic and severe.

I believe therapy is a place of non-judgment that allows you to express your thoughts, emotions, and the secrets we only tell ourselves. I believe that each person is an individual and their world is unique. I approach therapy with my clients by helping to explore the world as they see it and act as a guide to help them become more self-empowered. My goal with every client is to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment.

In my 10 years of practice as a counselor, I have had the great honor to walk alongside people from all walks of life as they find healing and improve their relationship with themselves and those that they love. I practice from a person-centered approach and believe that my clients are the experts of their own lives and experiences.

I will work with you to identify past survivor skills that have become destructive patterns influencing daily living. These survival skills are often related to substance abuse, mental illness or trauma from past or current relationships. We will Identify destructive behaviors and cognitions while decreasing trauma influence. This opens space to create positive cognitions and boundaries. These are the stepping stones to healthy relationships, becoming your best self and achieving your true purpose.

At New Directions Counseling Center our focus is to create a therapeutic environment for children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples to explore new directions and create positive changes in their lives. We believe in identifying and utilizing personal strengths in order to overcome obstacles and develop emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being.

Marie Frison is the owner and clinician of Hearts of Healing Therapies, LLC and has over 16 years of experience working with individuals of trauma, PTSD, anxiety, panic, and grief-related issues. She provides evidenced-based treatment for individuals 10 years of age and older. Her specialties include trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic, worry, grief and loss. Marie is Certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT). She is also a Certified Grief Informed Professional (CGP) and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP).

After graduating from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 1996, Kris began his career working with Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. He earned his Masters Degree in Counselor Education in 2001, and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2008. Since then Kris has worked in Inpatient Psychiatric and Outpatient Settings. He has received training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TFCBT) for children, the Gottman Method Level 2 for Couples Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).

The therapeutic journey is one that requires commitment and a bond that leads to trust and understanding. My goal is to provide each individual I serve an environment that is safe and confidential to share their story and true self. I use a person-centered, strength-based approach that puts you in the driver seat of your own treatment and I am the facilitator guiding you through each step. I believe that the feelings we experience (sadness, anger, fear, frustration, etc.) can be linked back to a root cause that needs to be addressed. I help you uncover, address, and cope with those circumstances.

Brittany primarily works with children, adolescences and teens ranging from ages 3-18 years old. Brittany does work with adults some focusing on trauma related concerns. She has worked with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, and legal concerns. Some evidence-based techniques that she has used in sessions include, play therapy, art therapy, DBT, and trauma focused techniques.
