I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been working with adults, adolescents, and children in northern Michigan for more than 30 years. I believe it's possible to redefine one's potential by understanding each person's unique strengths and limitations, and incorporating these into attainable goals. My focus is to help clients of all ages cope with challenging issues such as divorce, abuse, trauma, depression, self-image, grief and anxiety. I have specialized training in EMDR, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and am a Registered Play Therapist.

When you pull back the curtain a bit in this world, you will find deep and ongoing pain in many of us. Suppressing this pain through medications and coping strategies can bring about temporary relief but not everlasting internal peace. Helping you confront and heal the root cause of your anxiety, depression, addiction, anger or other difficulties is my goal.

I started working as a therapist while living abroad in Italy. I helped families with children with developmental disabilities, and coordinated services within the school systems. I also helped English speaking adults with substance abuse issues. Since moving back to the U.S, I have worked with children with austism spectrum disorder, as well as teens with anxiety and depression. Most recently I have been working with adults with opiate/opioid addiction. I also work with families, couples, and children. As a therapist, my goal is to help people achieve their goals to live happier, healthier, lives.

My clients often come to me looking for peace and rebalance after a difficult and sometimes traumatic experience. They are looking for a safe place to unpack everything that has happened and piece it all back together in a way that creates meaningfulness out of the chaos. Often, I work with the whole family structure, as we rarely experience anything purely individually. That might look like helping partners rediscover their feelings for each other or reestablishing appropriate roles and boundaries between partners or parents and their children. Sometimes it is helping those families restructure after a big life change or event.

I believe that in order for individuals to feel relaxed enough to share some of the most vulnerable aspects of their life, they need to be in a safe and warm environment. I work to achieve this by focusing my sessions on a person centered approach to therapy. I counsel individuals and families of every age in Northern Michigan.
