Sometimes we may feel we've moved on from life's hardships, but negative reactions and reoccurring thoughts and feelings can continue to reel us back, making the present feel like an ongoing struggle. Our minds, bodies, and nervous systems are remembering the memories of distressing life events, even when we don't consciously think of them every day. We get stuck in anxiety and depression- symptoms of inadequately processed, stuck distress from our lives, both past and present.
