Many of my clients have struggled with various forms of anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions and past trauma. Many of my clients have been women of color navigating challenges with family, work, grief, parenting and relationships, while attempting to cope with the stressors that come with these roles. Often, these clients are attempting to be the best version of themselves, and want assistance in identifying and strengthening ways to thrive, rather than merely survive.

My goal as your therapist, is to help you become the best version of yourself that you can be. We will work together to get through whatever it is that you may be dealing with - anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or anything else that could be disrupting your quality of life. My approach is person-centered and non-judgmental. I specialize in working with substance use disorders but also have experience working with many other mental health disorders.

Different people need different things at different times in their lives. For the most part, my style is person-centered, which feels more like two friends talking. We take the time to get to know one another, your unique interests and what makes you tick. We utilize this information to personally tailor our time together.

I am passionate about working with clients who are feeling stuck or overwhelmed by life. I have a strong interest in trauma and educating clients on how we can work togther to minimize its effects on their day to day life. I bring bold and compassionate conversations into our therapy sessions.

I provide a safe environment for clients to process their issues. I believe that psychotherapy is more than talk therapy. I am excited about the new research and treatments that focus on mind and body (somatic memories). I have an integrative approach to therapy. I work best with complex trauma (emotional and physical, including childhood neglect) and resulting anxiety and depression. I work well with grief related issues (complicated grief) and problems that arise from chronic illnesses.

People seek me out because they find their current situation intolerable - they are sick and tired of experiencing shame, intense anger, depression and anxiety. Perhaps they want to work on their addiction - the thing they use to numb the painful experiences. Their relationships are suffering as a result of their behaviors, being closed off, or "too much" for others. Many struggle with feelings of inadequacy, perfectionism and a deep sense of futility, which prevents them from taking charge of their lives and confidently pursuing their heart's desire.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor who has been practicing in Kentucky for over 23 years. I've practiced in a variety of different treatment settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and residential levels of care. In these settings, I have had extensive experience treating individuals with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, co-dependency, relationship and family issues. I am trained to work with adolescents and adults with a variety of mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, career and vocational issues, substance abuse, family/marital concerns, Alzheimer's disease, bereavement, anger, and other mood disorders. I utilize various treatment modalities, including cognitive behavior therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and dialectical behavior therapy. I provide a holistic approach believing you are the expert on what can work for you and will work just as hard as you to help you achieve your goals.

I have worked with clients in recovery from addiction and sexual trauma. I am currently seeing clients 16 years old and older including families and couples. I've worked with those struggling with grief, relationship issues, addiction, anxiety, depression, and issues related to identity.

I work to empower individuals to improve their relationships with themselves and others. I have an LCSW and extensive experience working with individuals who are trying to cope with a multitude of personal issues. Areas of interests include but are not limited to working with individuals who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, substance abuse, antagonistic relational stress, narcissistic abuse, chronic stress, or low self-esteem.

I believe that everyone comes to a time in life when they face their own personal “truth in the room”. This can be as simple as private self-reflection or as complicated as trying to save a relationship or marriage. Maybe you have a child who is out of control or a sibling who suffers from substance abuse. Lucy Bailey provides psychotherapy in the state of Kentucky as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Her passion and fascination have always been for people and their story. She received a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University, in the city of New York. Lucy has also served as an adjunct professor for the school of social work at the University of Kentucky, teaching masters level students social welfare policy and analysis, and the importance of advocacy in various social settings.

I fully believe in every individual's ability to heal from difficult life experiences. I also believe that people have a reservoir of untapped strength that enables them to work through these difficult life experiences, and make it through to the other side whole again. In the past eight years, I have worked with clients with depression, anxiety, loss/grief, substance abuse, self-doubt/shame, interpersonal problems, and have specialized in working with Veterans to help them heal wounds related to unimaginable trauma. I am certified in providing Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy, both specialized treatments for trauma.
