I have been in practice since 1999, when I received my MSW from the University of Kentucky. My work has been with families and children in multiple settings, with particular focus on trauma informed care. I am comfortable with family interventions as well as working with individuals. I have always enjoyed working with children and knew that I wanted to work with children and their families in some capacity. This work has been in a variety of settings, in patient, in-home, and outpatient and in school. I have completed the training for Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and understand how trauma impacts an individual.

Let's talk about trauma. How common is it? The National Center on PTSD estimates 60% of men and 50% of women will experience at least one trauma in their lifetime. Experiencing trauma isn't a rare event, it can happen to anyone. Common reactions to traumatic experiences include feeling detached or numb, feeling on guard, experiencing nightmares or unwanted thoughts about the trauma, and going out of your way to avoid reminders of the event. If you’ve been through something in your past, and you can’t seem to escape it in the present, you have the power to stop it from disrupting your future.

I am passionate about working with clients who are feeling stuck or overwhelmed by life. I have a strong interest in trauma and educating clients on how we can work togther to minimize its effects on their day to day life. I bring bold and compassionate conversations into our therapy sessions.

Different people need different things at different times in their lives. For the most part, my style is person-centered, which feels more like two friends talking. Women seek me out to help build boundaries and self-confidence while trying to manage the stressors of life. Most of the women that come to see me believe, if they can "just do a little better" then they will eventually find the perfect balance; only to find, the amount of effort they put in doesn't change their outcome. I also work with people in the LGBTQ+ community and people that love someone in the LGBTQ+ community struggling to adapt to the changes happening in their life. Ultimately, maybe you're just seeking a sense of self or belonging while dealing with emotional consequences of being rejected by toxic mainstream culture.

Family Village Counseling Center is a telehealth only mental health agency. We have multiple therapists with many years experience, offering services children, teens, families, adults and couples. Our therapists offer laid-back, flexible services, to allow you to feel more comfortable in connecting with a therapist that meets your therapeutic needs. We accept Medicaid and are in network with most major commercial insurance plans. We do offer private pay options for individuals and can explore payment plans or a sliding scale fee if needed.

Many of my clients have struggled with various forms of anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions and past trauma. Many of my clients have been women of color navigating challenges with family, work, grief, parenting and relationships, while attempting to cope with the stressors that come with these roles. Often, these clients are attempting to be the best version of themselves, and want assistance in identifying and strengthening ways to thrive, rather than merely survive.

I provide a safe environment for clients to process their issues. I believe that psychotherapy is more than talk therapy. I am excited about the new research and treatments that focus on mind and body (somatic memories). I have an integrative approach to therapy. I work best with complex trauma (emotional and physical, including childhood neglect) and resulting anxiety and depression. I work well with grief related issues (complicated grief) and problems that arise from chronic illnesses.

While I specialize in working with people struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns, I also work with people seeking treatment for non-eating related issues such as depression, anxiety, and more. As a therapist I am compassionate and supportive, yet direct and result oriented. I will work with you to build on your strengths and achieve your goals.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and licensed clinical alcohol and drug counselor who has been practicing in Kentucky for over 23 years. I've practiced in a variety of different treatment settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and residential levels of care. In these settings, I have had extensive experience treating individuals with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, co-dependency, relationship and family issues. In my 20-plus years in mental health, I have worked with individuals from ALL walks of life including prominent professionals, fellow clinicians, and a vast variety of others. I have been working with the members of our community for over eight years and have partnered with various agencies throughout the city to ensure success for my clients. Throughout my education and experience, I have found that the therapeutic approaches I favor, but not limited to, are Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I would like to utilize my experience gained throughout my career to empower clients from all age ranges with-in the Lexington community.

I have worked with clients in recovery from addiction and sexual trauma. I am currently seeing clients 16 years old and older including families and couples. I've worked with those struggling with grief, relationship issues, addiction, anxiety, depression, and issues related to identity.
