My ideal client is actively contemplating making changes in their life. They are prepared to discuss, explore, and process their trauma history and to find meaning in their experiences. They are able to work towards identifying how they would like to see their quality of life change (for example, reduce and better manage anxiety) and are prepared to take the necessary steps to do so. Additionally, the client can tolerate being challenged when their thinking or behaviors are inconsistent with their goals.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had such an enormous impact on how we live our daily lives. In my experience throughout this time, not only are we faced with horrendous grief and loss to the virus, many of the underlying mental health issues that were present prior to the pandemic, have now risen to the surface and been causing all sorts of havoc. My ideal client is a young adult under the age of 35 who may have difficulty with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, adjusting to new circumstances, stress, family strain, relationship issues, and cultural stress.

Individuals decide they need or want therapy for a variety of reasons. Many times people do not know what to expect when they begin therapy. I describe therapy as a three phase process. Phase I: This is the beginning of the therapeutic relationship. A mutual rapport and trust develops so therapy can move into Phase 2. The majority of the therapeutic work takes place in phase 2. A person's experiences, both positive and negative, their perceptions, their values, beliefs, and thoughts are explored during this phase.

Most of our clients' issues and needs include Depression, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress, Anger Management, Domestic Violence, and ADHD. Their needs include identifying positive and healthy ways to cope appropriately with emotions, identify ways to verbally express themselves appropriately, and identify healthy coping skills. Some goals would include processing their trauma, identfying positive peer networks, processing sadness and anger as well.

My experience includes Children and Adolescent Case Management, as well as individual, family, and group therapy services both in the community and school setting.
